I missed the words in white. Sorry.

Scroll up, Sarah....you'll see what's funny. When jokes are explained, they're no longer funny.

More thunder storms are expected this afternoon, so I'm not sure how much I'll be posting. Hopefully, they'll stay north. We had a bad one about midnight this morning.

Hope the storms don't get too bad. We've had too much rain in our part of the country this summer. Merv and the boys need to rebuild a sagging retaining wall, but the ground has never been dry enough to get the job done.

Hi Deb!

James, I didn't answer you the other night because I never did find a good solution with my boys. I'm just thankful they grew out of that stage. My mil tells a story about my hubby's one and only temper tantrum. She dumped a glass of cold water on his head and he never threw another one. I've heard other moms from her generation saying the same thing so it must have been something they were told to do way back when. Not sure if someone would turn you in for child abuse if you did it now.

This reminds me of a couple of stories...

So far, no storms, and I'm feeling chatty. I keep trying to come up with a question that will spark a good discussion. Rachel's question to me and John earlier this week was good. Maybe she'll think of another good one! (Hint, hint.)

Oh...here's one: What surprises you about this period in your life?

I sort of thought things would all go downhill from here. I've been surprised that I can still see benefits from changes in diet and activity level. I'm also surprised at how little I really know. When I was younger, I thought 50 year olds had everything figured out. Now that I'm going to be turning 50 soon, I realize how wrong I was.

I'm surprised at how easy marriage to John is! I expected to be constantly confronted with my character flaws, and to struggle with putting John's needs and desires before my own. I thought marriage would really be hard, though I wasn't quite sure how it would be hard. It's been so natural, which also surprises me given the fact that I was 48 when we married.

Okay, another question: What would you change about your past?

That's a toughie. There are a lot of things about my past that I don't like one bit. But all of them combined have contributed to the "me" I see in the mirror today... The biggest thing I'd like to change, however, is a better understanding of God's Word at an earlier age on a more personal level. It's not as though it was 50 or more years wasted, but I can still look at my life and I cringe at how much time was wasted away without truly knowing Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

I've been a Christian for 37 years. Only in the last three have I begun getting grounded in God's Word. I thought I was grounded, but I really wasn't.

I can understand that. I got saved in 1988. I wasn't grounded in God's word, however, and I didn't really take the salvation seriously until 2003. Funny thing how combat can do that to a person, eh?

Pretty much what James said. There are things I regret or wish I'd done differently, but God used those mistakes to help me grow.

Not to be a follower, but I agree. Yes, there are things I regret. Yes, there are things I feel bad about. However, all of those things have made me who I am and given me the strength and skills that I have today. I am not perfect by any sense of the term, but you know, I like myself and the bad stuff is what helped forge that.

I do wish I'd met John 30 years ago, though. Seems like we'll have so little time together!

.... even as difficult as my past was... I truly wouldn't change it... I'd even go back and live through each day of pain again if it brought me to where I am today.... (sometimes... it's only when I reveal my past that opens the door to earning the respect of the inmates...)

.... this is one thing I sometimes think about.... but if I would have met my sweetie years ago.... we'd probably be divorced already.... we were both messed up so many years ago!

Yes, God's timing is always right!

Next question: Who on these forums deserves the most teasing...and why?
