I think it's blood worms if I remember right...

It was more than 10 years ago though so I wouldn't bet on it...

If we do get a beta fish we probably will need to get a heater for its tank or bowl because during the winter we have the heat down to about 45 in the apartment at night. That's cuz the bedroom stays quite warm due to my breathing equipment. The living room where the fish would be would get a mite chilly for the fishy.

So...we'll take our time getting ready for the beta fish...and meanwhile we'll enjoy watching the robins settle in to the tree outside our livingroom window.

Hi Deb and John and everyone!

Cool on the birds, I like to chase and observe them when I am walking around in the city.

I hope your birds do well this year.

When we had a little anole, we used a desk lamp for heat. I don't know if that would work for a Beta.

Hi Mike. How are you today? I saw in a thread somewhere that your back has been giving you troubles. Is it better now?

What sort of birds to you see around the city? Pigeons, of course, and probably sea gulls.

One day Deb and I were down the water and feeding crackers to some sparrows and pigeons and ducks. But the sea gulls tried to insist on me feeding them and only them.

Hi Sue, my back is still bothering me a little bit, however it is recovering though.

Hi John, I tend to see sparrows and also what I think are robin's as well. I like to see how close I can get to them before they will fly away.

The birds are really singing up a storm right now!

Over on Sharon's thread, the big topic is how romantic John and I are. I think we savor our marriage because we had to wait so long, and because we thought marriage was impossible for us. Are we an encouragement to older singles? Or are we too mushy?

Thanks, Mike.

I simply can't be indifferent or merely casual when it comes to Deb. I think I might strain something if I tried to. So it's good to know that others don't mind if we express some of our affection for one another. We'll try not to overdo it, but I don't think it's possible for me to not do it at all.

So many people are in not so great marriages, it is good to see when 2 people genuinely show love for each other.

Thanks, Sue, and thanks again, Mike.

Next month I'll be teaching adult Sunday school for the 5 Sundays in the month. The last time I taught for 4 Sundays I believe and never got out of the first chapter of Ephesians, which is what I'll be teaching on again.

I'm hoping that somehow I'll manage to get to the portion of Ephesians on husbands and wives.

When I teach I like to ask a lot of questions and get input from the folks in the class, in addition to what I have to share. And Ephesians is so rich in content that there is just so much that can be covered in an hour each Sunday.

But it would be nice to discuss those verses about husbands and wives in Ephesians 5.

We'll see...

Sorry to change the subject, but Shar-Mar linked to a YouTube video in a Faithwalk thread, and it was so powerful that I put it on my blog. Please go see it (especially you, Darcyjo)!

Hi Deb. Hope things are going well with your trial day for the prospective attendant.

We're putting in some flowers in front of our house. When I say, we, I mean Merv. He's not letting me dig. We got lots of perennials from a local nursery. They should add color and attract butterflies. Last fall we pulled out some overgrown bushes and I think this will be a big improvement. At least I hope so.

Well, Sue...it did start out being a trial with todays lady. Within the first 15 minutes, she made three judgement calls. She got better as time progressed.

We had a pretty good interview this afternoon, and we'd like to try her next Saturday. She's very quiet, which I'm not used to. Well, we'll see. The other gal we iinterviewed today had a great personality, connected well with me, and seemed like a possibility till she said she needs to be paid under-the-table. Uh...sorry!

Hope your flowers attract butterflies, Sue. That would be fun!

As Deb said, this mornings attendant wasn't too great at first but improved as the morning progressed. So we'd be willing to try her again if we don't find somebody better. It's possible the one who we interviewed at 2:00 today might try out next Saturday morning if she calls us with a couple of references.

Speaking of front yard plantings...

When my folks helped build and move into the house I grew up in they had two "Chrsistmas tree" type trees planted, one on either side of the front steps. They were told they would grow to about 8 or 10 feet.

Well, they got to be 12 feet...and 14 feet...and got wider as they grew taller. Eventually it became clear that even with pruning they were determined to overgrow the stairs and my ramp and the house for that matter.

So finally they were taken out and replaced with flowering bushes. My Mom was much happier.

My grandmother passed away today. My mother is not taking it so well, and I'm afraid neither is the rest of the family.

Oh, I'm so sorry, James.

Deb! I've heard this dude before......EXCELLENT singing voice, and he's a bass like my Lonnie was! Love hearing him, he reminds me of my sweet dh.

And I need to second the others, I'm happy to see y'all billing and cooing in the threads around here. The fact that not everybody has a happy marriage doesn't mean that you shouldn't show YOUR happiness, it might rub off on some of the grumpier denizens of this neck of the woods!

I remember being accused of acting like a newlywed, several years into our marriage. We still had loving nicknames for each other, we still cuddled, we still went out of our way to be with each other at any opportunity. I feel sorry for those who let their loves grow cold......you don't know how long you have, nobody does. Love EVERY day.

Okay, lecture over. I think I'll go get a tissue.....
