Morning, Deb!

Man, it's in the 40s this morning, and the heat is running again.....but at least it'll be in the mid to high 70s today. I'll be glad when it doesn't get cold overnight.....

Good morning Deb!

It's in the 50's here this morning. I'm wearing my robe and thick socks. Still, I'm sure that Joe will want the windows open in a little bit. As long as I can get by without turning on the heat, I'll let him open the windows and just bundle myself up.

Heyo friends!

Here in IN, we're also still having the cold mornings/warm days. Only real challenge at the moment is, we're dealing with utility problems (like still trying to pay off the astronomical heating bill from this past winter) and our gas company has decided to shut our service off . If it was just me, it wouldn't be a problem. But as I'm sure Deb and John can attest from their own experience, Beth does NOT deal well with cold temps . Our bill had become like $350, which for our heating season and gas prices what they were ... that was about a month and a half worth of billing . But to reconnect our service, we're going to need to come up with that, plus three times our average billing plus a $60 service reconnect fee. Total: About $850!

Part of me wants to just let them cool their heals and pay it off over the summer, but yesterday and today Beth has been in tears because of the cold.

But, we do have a wonderful bit of GOOD news! I'll share that over in Darcy's place

The temps here are okay, but for the past week, I've been waking up after only 5 hours of sleep. The light wakes me up. Never used to. So today we got a darker window shade. Ironically, tomorrow Houdini has to get me up early so she can accompany her son on a school field trip, so I won't get to see if the shade helps me sleep longer. But Trinidaddio said he'll come earlier tonight to put John to bed, so hopefully I'll get about 7 1/2 hours.

Sorry about the sleep, Deb. I know I've been waking up early too, even after I've worked the night before. I'm pretty sure that it's an age thing with me. My mom gets up at 4:30 every morning. I sure hope I don't get that bad.

I can't chat right now. Joe and I are headed to the cable company. I was with Jake when he cancelled the cable service, and they just sent him a bill for next month. They don't have a local phone number, so we have to go talk to them in person.

I'm eager to her Ron's good news, by the way, so I will amble over to Darcy's place.

Hi Darcy, Sue and Kristin.

I know Sue is behaving herself, but I'm wondering what kinds of mischief Darcy and Kristin are causing.

Hi Ron,

I don't suppose you could get an electric space heater for whatever room you're in at a given time, and either extra regular blankets or an electric blanket for at night to be able to put off coming up with that $850 right away.

Although our income is limited, I do have my Avon business, so Deb and I will be getting one of those stimulus checks soon. It will come in handy to pay for some things. I hope you qualified for getting one of those checks and that it comes to you soon.

Lord, could you send some mild nights as well as days to Ron and his family?

Thank you for the prayers Brother John! Yes, the warmer temps would definately not come remiss about now. Yes, we DID get our stimulus checks ... and it went right back out to cover some OTHER bills (this was well before gas company switched us off, they even got part of the money) Our check was also less than we'd been anticipating. Being married, we assumed we'd be getting the max for a couple without kids ($1200), but we only got $600.

On getting a space heater, we'd talked about something on that line even before the gas was off. Our house is moderately drafty.

We also got the $600 amount, but since we thought me might only get $300 since Deb doesn't work, we were happy to get the $600. But if you were expecting to get $1200 and only got half that, that wasn't fun.

Lord, please send some warmer temps their way.

Amen on that!

Evening, John!

I can't help but sympathize with you, Ron. My power bills this winter have been astronomical, what with having a (nearly useless) heat pump!

Evening, Darcy.

We had a roller coaster utility bill season with one month being unusually low follwed by higher than normal followed by a through the roof bill. (The through the roof bill might have had something to do with a refridgerator being set up incorrectly.) Now things are back to reasonable.

Well, gotta head for bed. Deb will wondering where I am. Have a good night everybody.

I'm tired, Trish. Woke up at 12:30, and didn't get back to sleep till 4:00. Of course, today was the day Houdini came at 6:00, so the alarm went off at 5:45.

I've been assembling photos for my latest montage: Love That Dirty Water. So, although I couldn't physically go to Boston today, I relived a lot of good memories and went all over the city! Don't know when I'll actually do the montage, but at least I got a start!

Are you online, Kristin? If so, come bother me!

I don't know. This pest is very sleepy too... I'm not sure why, but I really, really need a nap...

I just dropped in briefly to your thread, Kristin, and see that you like kritters of the furry variety. Deb and I do, too, although in our small apartment the only critters we have are the kind that don't eat or chew on the upholstery. Maybe one day will have a dog, but we'll have to have somebody to walk it and be able to budget the food and vet bills.

Deb may have told you about the dogs she had when she was younger, and she did indeed love them.

Yep! The furries are my babies! I hope someday you can have at least one. They are the best!

We got our dog for free, she was a stray. Still, the upkeep, food, shots, grooming etc. really adds up.

If we ever are able to budget having a dog we will most likely get it at the pound. The animal hosptal here in town also serves as the dog pound and they have always managed to find a home for their dogs.

We'd like a mixed breed, probably an older dog that was already house broken and one who likes attention but not too rambunctious.

Has Deb mentioned that my cousin and her husband take in retired greyhounds and prepare them for adoption? They usually have 3 to 5 dogs at a time and keep some for the rest of their lives. When they visit they sometimes bring the dogs with them. Cool.

Guess I don't have to...

I just can't permit myself to hope for a dog. One time, John took me to a pet store, where we saw an adorable white Maltese puppy. The saleswoman really did her level best to talk us into buying it, and my heartstrings got tugged big-time! We did resist, but I refuse to visit pet stores now!
