I wouldn't be able to add anything to it either. In fact, I took from it!

I was thinking the same thing. Would it help if we prayed for you to be even more open to seeing the hand of God working in you and through you on Saturdays? That you would always see reasons to count it all joy? I think you do that anyway, but wondered if it would help to ask for you to have extra grace for the weekends.

That would be great, Sue! What an exciting idea! That turns it into an adventure, doesn't it?

I can't remember who I was listening to, maybe Chip Ingram, but he had a great story about having the right attitude in adversity. He knew a man who'd been a millionaire and lost everything. This cycle happened several times. Chip said that every time the man lost his fortune, this guy would get excited and exclaim, "I wonder what God's going to do now!" His attitude was that bad times were the perfect time to see what God can do.

I see you're enjoying your new camera, Sue.

Yes, Scripture calls us to rejoice in adversity. I think I'm getting better at doing so, but I still have such a long way to go! I'd like to just sleep through Saturdays, really. But the Lord has other ideas.

Yes, I am. I'm sort of a camera junkie, but I don't take great pictures. I keep looking for the perfect camera that will overcome my picture taking faults. Oh, and it has to sell for under $200. Not asking for much, am I?

Our camera was $99 at Ritz. Of course, Paint Shop Pro has lots of photo editing features, so if John's photos are less than perfect, I can manipulate them. Does your computer have any photo editing software? I'd rather have that than a fancy camera.

Mine isn't too fancy. If I have too many functions, I just get confused. This does have a good red-eye removal program with it. That and the bigger screen on back are two big advantages for me.

John wants a fancier camera, but we're hoping our current one will make it through one more summer. It's not working well lately.

Supper's ready. Gotta go.

Well I am not a big clam person. There is the Barking Crab in the Seaport District, however there is that place by Wollaston Beach too The Clam Shack, that is if it's still there.

Okay, the good news is that the Saturday lady's other "patient" needs her on Saturday mornings, but at least we didn't have to fire her. So, now we'll need to spend money on an ad again, and do interviews. But I'm relieved.

Ths morning I was thinking and praying about all of this before John woke up, and I realized that I still operate from an entitlement mentality. If we go to government-run health care under our next president, we may not get to choose our attendants. From what Marsha posts in her thread, Ohio is already a Nanny State in regard to personal care attendants, and I can envision Massachussetts getting that way (along with the rest of the country). I can see, by my attitude right now, that I'm not prepared for that probabilty. I feel entitled to attendants like Favored Attendant and Houdini, who do things our way and fit the personality of our home.

So, I'm struggling. If Jesus really is Lord, shouldn't I accept attendants I don't want, realizing that maybe the issue is for them to see Him? Am I really expecting life to be comfortable? It's not supposed to be about me, but I still behave as though it is. I want attendants who fit into our home and treat us respectfully. But what is the Lord's agenda? Am I even interested in His agenda?

Well, this is the day that the Lord has made, so I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Lots to think about there, Deb. I don't have an answer, but I am praying about it.

We're heading out to Merv's family farm today to celebrate Easter. It was the first weekend that everyone would be available at the same time. I'll be here off and on, but I have veggies to chop and a few other things to get ready.

Yup, I've thought of Wollaston Beach. During my first visit here (October 1999), John took me and our two attendants to The Clam Shack. Afterwards, we strolled along the boardwalk after sunset. We saw a pier with a building on it (obviously a yacht club), and wanted to go on its back deck to see the Boston lights on the water. But as we approached, we saw a sign saying "Private Property," so we turned back. Just then, a man smoking a cigarette appeared, saying, "Go on back; if anyone questions you, tell 'em Ricky said it's all right."

Can angels smoke cigarettes?

Cool Deb! You know as I post in these threads, I seem to be sharing more about various areas that I have lived in. When I worked for a supermarket a real long time ago, a guy approached me in the side area where the dumpsters were and he gave me $5.00! (that is probably like someone giving you $10 dollars now). I asked him if he was an angel, he said no.

He did mention something interesting about inflation though. He talked how everything really only costs pennies and that everything else is just inflation instead. It was interesting hearing what he had to say.

BTW, have you and John been to Castle Island yet? Its another local place for residents, but is can be seen if you take a boat into and out of Boston.

We visited Castle Island on my second visit to Massachusetts with my attendant and John's sister Carolyn. That memory is particularly precious because it's the only thing I ever got to do with Carolyn. Six months after our wedding, she died of breast cancer.

Buses don't go very near Castle Island, so we'd probably take the RIDE.

For our fourth anniversary we took the RIDE to Nantasket and ate at Raffello's. That was a nice beach. They have a wheelchair ramp, so we could get down to beach level. We stayed on the ramp, though...didn't want to get stuck in the sand! Go to the August 2006 archives of my blog for pictures.
