Hi, Mike, Sheila, and Trish!
Yes, I got new glasses! Thanks for the large print!
The house packing is going great. Most of the books are packed, we are making it on a few basic kitchen things, the hutch it almost empty, most of the books and all CDs, DVDs and videos are packed. We still have one big mess all around. We need to get down to the "bare bones" by Feb. 29. Pray we can do that. Then it's painting all the rooms. We have had to get someone to do that and the outside of the house. He lowered the price for us as a friend unexpectedly put in a word for us! Wasn't that nice. He was low price already compared to others.

Thanks, Trish! I haven't seen April anywhere in a long time, have you?
Not many coming here either. What can I do to make it more interesting? Any ideas?

I haven't seen her around.

I haven't been online as much as usual either. Not that I don't want to be, but I just don't seem to get here.

How's everything with you?

Have you been in contact with Dena lately? How is she?

Yes, we visited Dena a few weeks ago on the way back down the highway from Oregon. She has moved back to CA. She seems to be happy and doing well, which is good!

I think the main way to have a lot of posts go up is start topics where people pick on each other and make jokes. The serious threads get a lot fewer posts than the joking/fun threads.

We mess around in my thread, but the numbers are dropping. Oh well.

Joy, I'm glad that Dena is happy. I often wonder about her and how she's doing.

Hi, Mike, Catherine, and Trish!

So who would like to start the humor? Catherine, since you suggested it? Though I know Mike and Trish are pretty good at it, too!

I'll tell Dena you asked about her, Trish. I'm also glad that she's happy. But I'm sorry she won't be living in the city where we plan to move to! I'd been looking forward to her being there. Well, that's how it goes. We did get to see a last month, which was great!

I would love to live in California (except the San Francisco region), but my husband does not like the politics nor the gun laws.

Good morning!!

When I first read this
quote:

So who would like to start the humor?

I read it as "who would like to start the rumor?" And I thought "what????"

LOLOL

How often do we read (or even hear) things the wrong way ....... and it gives something a completely different meaning. For better or worse . It can definitely put a smile on my face sometimes.

.................. I do believe I need some more coffee.

(or a new Rx for my glasses? )

All I know about CA gun laws I learned in kindergarten. No, not really! Would you take a shot at telling us what he doesn't like about the gun laws?

I wish that Dukemajin (sp?) would run for President. (Former CA governor, conservative, who put CA back in the black in one or two terms.)

LOL, Sam! I didn't know coffee was good for the eyesight.

Why, yes it is. It helps the eyes to O.P.E.N. at 5:00 in the morning.

Hey! I got some humor for ya .......

After a real crusher of a landing in Phoenix, the attendant came on with, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Capt. Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we'll open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal."

LOLOL ....... Capt. Crash!!

Well, Nevada is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry permits. If someone has not commited any crimes, takes the concealed carry class, and then applies for the permit, the permit must be given to them. CA is a "may issue" state, and they mostly lean to the "no" side of maybe, so basically the only people with guns are cops and criminals. My husband really likes his second ammendment rights.

HERE IS A MAP which says which states shall give you permits and which ones maybe will or won't.

That reminds me, Sam, of what my husband used to say when I was learning to drive. He said, "You're taking a crash course in driving!" It also reminds me of when the pilot said, "Do not remove your seat belts. Please keep your seat belts on at all times during the flight; however, you may freely walk around the cabin. ...er, let me rephrase that." I know this happened because we were on that flight!

Thanks for the map, Catherine. You really bit the bullet, didn't you.

I'm paranoid about flying. I don't take my seatbelt off unless I absolutely have to whilst the engines are on.

I love flying! Always have

My dad worked in the airline industry his entire career (he only had one job!!), and three of my brothers obtained pilot licenses. I wanted to be a flight attendant, but alas, I am too short, so I settled for another career.

The only thing I don't enjoy about flying are all the hassles in the airport since 9/11.

You know, there's just something about not meeting someone, or having someone meet you, right at the gate when you step off the airplane. Those were nice days! Now ....... your eyes have to filter through passengers from 50 other arriving airplanes.

Hi, Mike, Trish, and Sam!

I didn't know there was a height restriction for flight attendants. What career did you settle on, Sam?

I'm a legal secretary. My original plan was to work my way through college and then through law school ....... but once I started as a secretary, I quickly realized that was my niche and I really enjoyed doing that. So, here I am many years later, and still loving what I do!

Right now, I'm reading "Christy" telling about life in the mountains in the 1800s. Amazing stories and descriptive writing. I almost live it! It contains a lot of spiritual truth as well, which I enjoy. I often get more from novels than how-to books because I like novels which are "real" and show life as it is or, as in this case, as it was.

Hey, Joy! I haven't read Christy. Is that the book that they (movie producers or what not) made a TV series from?

Niki, yes, the TV programmes are based on the books. I loved the book, and I've got the videos as well. Great story.
