God’s Broken Heart,
Our Broken Heart

“He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief”
“Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness; and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none”

Jesus Christ speaking in Isaiah and the Psalms

When we speak of the suffering of Christ on the cross, we rightly speak of the extreme physical pain that He endured. Such physical suffering none have endured as His!

However, how little we speak of the emotional and mental anguish that He suffered.

Jesus Christ allows Himself to be vulnerable to abuse and rejection from men.

“Reproach hath broken my heart,” He says, because “He is despised and rejected of men.” He was despised and rejected two thousand years ago and He is despised and rejected by men today.

If we were to ask people who suffer from chronic physical and emotional pain which is harder to endure I believe many would say that emotional pain is the harder of the two. Certainly, chronic physical pain is horrible. It can lead to depression, early death, and put great stress on the recipient and their loved ones. But prolonged emotional abuse and rejection can break the strongest of hearts.

“Reproach hath broken my heart,” says the harmless Savior. And for those of us who might question what reproach means, it means to find fault with a person, to blame or censure.

Have we been, like Jesus, the objects of reproach? Do others find fault with and criticize us? When we know that we are innocent and yet others criticize and shame us what do we do? Has our heart been broken, perhaps many times?

Let us go to the One Who made the heart. Jesus knows so well the pain we are experiencing. Perhaps His heart was ruptured so that our broken heart could fit inside of His; two broken hearts beating together as one.

O, my precious brothers and sisters in Christ! Let us commit our sorrowful hearts into His, where we will find acceptance instead of rejection, encouragement instead of shame, gentleness instead of harshness and sweetness instead of bitterness.

Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to Thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high.
Hide me, O my Savior, hide, till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide; O receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none, hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, ah! Leave me not alone, still support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed, all my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenseless head with the shadow of Thy wing.

~ Charles Wesley ~

Indeed dear sister, we forget how much worse emotional pain is than physical pain...I myself dealed with depressions before the Lord saved me and now that all the pain has been washed away, I look at what Jesus had to deal with and it only makes me love Him more..in the begining I used to ask why'd He ever go through what He went through for a sinner and horrible person like me!?? The answer..well He loves us all, and only a Love that strong can hold up the pieces of a broken heart! Praise the Lord for such a Love, a love that only He can bring! Beautiful Post Sister!

Blessings to all!

My precious brothers and sisters in Christ, and to those who do not know Him yet,

I am so grateful for the ones who have read my posts and responded. I am so grateful for you who have contributed to this thread!!!

To my precious brothers and sisters in Christ: I feel as if the LORD has called me away from contributing to this thread anymore for personal reasons.

I have tried my best to protray the Jesus of the Gospels to you accurately. I SO appreciate you that have read my posts.

I pray that, you who have read posts from this thread would turn to Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

I love you all and, if you desire to see more of my writings they may be found on: http://www.ourlovinggod.net.

But my main desire is that you do not "discover" my writings but that you find "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" from Whom all blessings, joy, peace and love flow.

Thank you so much for sharing a part of my journey to God with me!!!

In my Most Beloved and Adored,
Jesus,
Virginia

Virginia, Christelle, Rebecca,

I read your posts and all three made me cry. There is so much of His heart here in what you have written. Don't you praise Him for His grace, patience and faithfulness? What would we do without His strength? I suppose that in the darkness His visage is all the more beautiful!

You know, i am coming to appreciate the fact that i am His child more and more, as He takes me through trials....You know, each time whne i think "i'm down!!! I 'm done!!!" he rescues me in some way, and provides a way out , always....the last few days have been such a testimony to His glory....This is really GOOD for His name....i am coming out of each struggle stronger...and as always, he places brothers and sisters in christ on the path to help each other....

Praise the Lord.....

Last Sunday as the Pastor was speaking I could only think of you all and the love we all share for Christ, I thought how happy the Lord must be looking at our hearts and knowing how much we love Him!! how much we think of Him!...Dear Sisters as I read your posts my heart leaps with joy and excitement...I had been feeling kind of friendless these days, but the Lord knows the contents of our hearts and He has showed me a family in you sisters and I'm very thankful for you all!!...My prayers go out to all of you!
Christelle, all I can say is that God loves His children very much! and the trials we go through are another way of Him showing His love for us, it shows how much God cares for us, and you my friend are definitely His child and He loves you mother that you could ever imagine!
May God shower many blessing in each and everyone of you!

Virginia!

I will miss you very very much. Does this mean you'll be away from the entire board for awhile? I will keep you in my prayers. I know whatever Jesus has for you will be truly special. If you need to send a PM to me I would certainly welcome it.

I for one would like to keep contributing to this thread so I hope that everyone who has been posting here will continue to do so.

Love ya Virginia,
Please write when you can,
Amy

Yes! Even today Jesus is still rejected.

Jesus speaks!

"Protector?
Provider?
Shelter?
Friend?
These things am I, the rejected Lover whose Heart you rend!
The table is set. The crystal near an empty place.
Who will sit in the chair, whose name, whose face?
The candle is lit, for whom does the flame shine?
O that the chair, the name, and the face were Mine!"

Hi Saved!

I am so glad you're here! I'm looking forward to what you have to share. It's great talking about Him and also sharing the creativity He has given us. I would be very disappointed if people stopped contributing to this thread.

Later I'll add something of my own.

You first!

Here is more of my story "The Prince seeks A Bride." It is a clear description of what Jesus suffered for us.

Kissed by a Rose

The last and deepest kiss is for the Prince to give. Not yet! He will know when it is time.

He kisses her (our soul) first lightly, “Father forgive them for they know not what do.”

“Today you will be with Me in paradise.”

Forcing Himself up the vertical cross piece, Jesus pushes His feet against the nails He’s been standing on. Every movement sends fire through His body. The nails through His hands are like a life raft because they aid Him in pulling Himself out of the sea of suffocation. Bride is approaching with a mocking smile. In her face He sees each member of the human race, their names, their struggles, pain, failures, loneliness, the incurable wound inflicted from the Fall. He hasn’t forgotten what Bride was, before she ate the poison. Again the cup is offered to Jesus. This time He will drink it to every last drop is gone.

He thought He had anticipated how terrible sin would taste. It was much worse. But His compassion is greater than His disgust. He choked and gasped as the vileness invaded his being. His senses nearly failed. Peering through the thick blackness that surrounded Him, Jesus searched for His Father. Death is coming and Jesus is afraid. He can feel the coldness creeping into His bones and most of all his Heart.

The cup was nearly drained. This too, the most poisonous drops of all?

“Yes.”

Next : Jesus tastes seperation from the Father.

amy, how powerful this account of His sufferings for us is!!!!!!
How often do we just take the sentence "He died for us" lightly and forget how big the sacrifice was....
How great His love for us must be , His love for His bride....going beyond what his human nature could take.....and taking every single drop from the cup..

Thanks for sharing this Amy.....

You are so right Christelle. That's why I like to write stories, paint, create dramas about what Jesus endured for us. It helps me to ponder what He did and hopefully causes others to appreciate a little more the love of Christ.

I feel the same way!...reading the way you describe it all Amy I can almost taste the poison myself...It sometimes disappoints me and angers me to see how careless the world can be...but I have to understand that we were once blinded by sin just like everyone else...But in light of that I had written a while ago something along those lines...It was during a time when I was sharing my faith with everyone and people seemed like they didn't care..and the ones who did say "oh yeah sure I believe he existed" take Christ's sacrifice so lightly...So this is the devotional i've been wanting to share all weekend:

"I mean a man died! DEAD! Anyone familiar with that word? Anyone?
Well let me tell you a little something about death. But not just your simple Poof! I'm dead! I'm gone! kind of death. No. I want to tell you about a horrific man slaughter. Can you picture it?
People read the newspapers, watch the news on tv and/or read an article about a young boy who was kidnapped and then tortured to death and you can practically hear the 'oohs' and 'ahhs', or see the shock on people's faces. The hurting little hearts of family members.
I don't know about you but I have suffered the loss of family members and of a friend, and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. I cried. I cried a lot and felt very hurt for a long time. I'm sure you all have been there at least once. Well if you have, then let me tell you about the death of this one Man.
He's everyone's brother, from the Father's side of the family and He died at a very young age. Barely 33.
'Young 33 year old Carpenter Slaughtered to Death'!
Imagine reading that in a newspaper. A huge headline on the front page. Just Picture it.
'Young Carpenter Brutally Tortured to Death! read more pg.16'
You quickly skim through until you get to the article on the young carpenter. And oh surprise! you find out that it was your brother. Shock! "Oh my Word!" you drop everything. You can't believe it, you start to cry. Then you grab the newspaper again, you just have to know why?! how?! And you read the following:
'33 year old Jesus Christ, Carpenter Son of Mary and adoptive child of Joseph, was brutally murdered last sunday at 3 o' clock in the afternoon. After being savagely slashed and tortured for hours, the young man was forced to carry a cross as heavy as all of humankind's sins combined, for the longest miles ever. When he reached his destination He was placed on top of the wooden cross, his hands and feet nailed to the cross and then lifted up for all to see. The young man was humiliated, stripped off of his clothes, crowned with thorns, spitted on and insulted. Before dying the man had claimed to be the Son of God and claimed to have died for all of those who were to believe in him, thus granting them eternal life. Jesus Christ says that he did this because otherwise all humankind would've been doomed to eternal suffrage and a life without God!'
Wow! My very own brother died for ME!? ME!? wait a second. Me? How could I ever repay him.
You'd think a news report like that would change the entire worl. But don't be surprised if the world doesn't change. How could I ever deny the man who went through so much suffering for a petty sinner like me. But I did for 20 years off and o. But then I read the "newspaper" again and I finally understood. I finally realized how I would be able to repay my faithful brother. Accepting His sacrifice, a living a life devoted to Him. Living a life serving others, loving others giving myself to others each and everyday like my faithful brother did.
Not just that but I have to let people know what MY brother did for me! for them! and for all of those in need of Saving."

Blessings to All!!

Sorry its so long

So this morning, well..i wouldn't call 12:17 PM morning, but anyway...as I lay there still in bed a poem sprinted inside my mind, out of Divine inspiration I can only assume. And well here it goes:

Before Mine Eyes
by: Rita Martinez

I fell on my knees
in Prayer to the ground,
And Light had shinned
before mine eyes

An Angel had appeared
With golden wings
And fire engulfed his deepend eyes

And in his hand
he held a Gem
Crystal clear
and Blue as sky

And in it I saw
A beautiful face
And Christ,
a carved name that shinned

As he turned the glorious gem
inside it held a Golden key.
And up he threw the gleaming Gem
And clouds did part
to open the sky.

A glorious throne
was made evident,
A radiant light
before mine Eyes.

And In his other hand
he had held a copy
of the Golden key,
A Name was carved around the top.

Twelve gems now lay encrusted
Inside the Golden key's design.
A story written in brilliant letters
And blood indicating a sacrifice.

Up he threw the key again
And narrowed was the door up high
"Few Shall Pass" the Angel said,
And vanished right before mine eyes.

This is awesome because of it's blunt reality. The crucifixion of Christ was shocking and brutal! It was meant to be because God was trying to get our attention. He wants us to be distrubed by it and to ask, "Why is this man suffering so much?" That's why I applauded the Gibson movie, The Passion for it's "in your face" approach. Very good!!!

BTW it's not too long. Nope!

So this morning, well..i wouldn't call 12:17 PM morning, but anyway...as I lay there still in bed a poem sprinted inside my mind, out of Divine inspiration I can only assume. And well here it goes:

Before Mine Eyes
by: Rita Martinez

I fell on my knees
in Prayer to the ground,
And Light had shinned
before mine eyes

An Angel had appeared
With golden wings
And fire engulfed his deepend eyes

And in his hand
he held a Gem
Crystal clear
and Blue as sky

And in it I saw
A beautiful face
And Christ,
a carved name that shinned

As he turned the glorious gem
inside it held a Golden key.
And up he threw the gleaming Gem
And clouds did part
to open the sky.

A glorious throne
was made evident,
A radiant light
before mine Eyes.

And In his other hand
he had held a copy
of the Golden key,
A Name was carved around the top.

Twelve gems now lay encrusted
Inside the Golden key's design.
A story written in brilliant letters
And blood indicating a sacrifice.

Up he threw the key again
And narrowed was the door up high
"Few Shall Pass" the Angel said,
And vanished right before mine eyes.

Oh my Rita! This is full of beautiful imagery and powerful truth, like your actually having a vision. Lots of symbolism, Christ being the priceless gem and the key, golden because He is pure and divine.

"His head is golden. purest gold." Song of Solomon 5:10

The way is narrow. Few shall enter. May Christ give us grace.

Here's is more of my story about the Prince seeking a Bride:

Jesus tastes seperation from the Father:

Love had become tainted. Once pure and beautiful, Jesus saw His own character, His perfect obedience immersed in filth. He loathed the sin and He knew His Father hated it too. But the loneliness, the loss of perfect loveliness, goodness and truth caused Him to search desperately for Father’s face!

“My God! My God! Why have you forsaken Me?”

The Law shouted back at Him, screaming in His mind, “Thou shalt not!”

Every broken Commandment was on Him. Justice had to be done.

“Cursed is he who hangs on a tree.”

He heard mocking voiced below.

“He saved others but He cannot save Himself!”

“Come down from the cross and we will believe in you!”

“He trusted in God, let God deliver Him now.”

He heard another voice, the voice of the Tempter:

“Use your power. Come down from the cross. You could slay all these people with a word. They hate you. Hate them back!”

But there was a greater power, a power even greater than the temptation. This same power compelled Jesus to leave the splendor of heaven, forsake His Nazareth home to live the life of a vagabond, healing the sick, befriending the outcast, only to find Himself in this lonely place racked with pain. Love was that power and the powerful motivation that kept Him up on the cross so that people in their own time of suffering and questioning would be able to know that He too had been there.

His life was quickly ebbing away. He mouth tortured with thirst could barely form the words:

“I thirst!”

It was a cry not only for drink but for love ~ to be loved in return, to be loved freely as she (Bride) once did in the Garden. He had come seeking Bride. He had come to take the poison from her mouth and remove the curse. And He did. He kissed her deeply and the breath was nearly sucked out of Him. His knees bent and He felt Himself hanging by the nails through His wrists. The terrible grip of suffocation constricted his lungs and He heard the death rattle come from His own mouth.

The lesser power mocked Him: “You have died in vain and death is coming to take you. She will not love you in return. She is mine forever.”

Jesus drank the last bit of poison.

Next: Bone of His bone and flesh of his flesh.

Have you ever been betrayed? Has someone ever let you down just at the moment you needed their support? Have you ever been left outside in the cold after receiving someone's promise of unfailing love and protection? Then you might start to understand how Jesus felt...He was not only betrayed by the same bride He had come for...No, she did worse than that: She.mocked Him...dragged Him in the dirt.....and finally nailed Him to the cross... Throughout the ordeal, not once did Jesus deny her....He died out of love for her...He died to fulfill the prophecies....Today, we still ignore our promised One. We put Him in closets, we chose to ignore Him when it is convenient to us, we do not stand up for Him when confronted by others.....haven't we learned from the past?

The bride has fled,
She has scurried into the night
As her groom was captured,
She broke her promise and left.

“Even if I have to die with you,
I will never deny you”

Lies, lies, lies,
Lies she whispered to Him,
Lies she told in the times of happiness.
Now that the heavens have darkened grimly,
She denies ever knowing her lover.

“A curse on me if I’m lying,
I don’t know the man”

Lies, lies, lies
From the same lips that kissed Him before.
She has forsaken the One.
As He is taken away,
Dragged from court to court,
He receives the same verdict from her

‘Guilty”
“He deserves to die”

Yes! Guilty of wholeheartedly loving her,
Guilty of surrendering to the Father’s will.
And even as He hangs on the cross,
He still proclaims His enduring love.

“Father forgive them,
For they don’t know what they are doing”

quote:

Rita,
i read this yesterday, and you just nailed it !! you took it to the present days....i find myself too often taking His death for granted....It is only by bringing us back to reality like you did that the understanding even starts to sink in.... No human being would ever go though what He did for us....yet in an earthly way, we can still relate to His sufferings, if we Choose to.....

I 've got more to read but a class not to miss.....I'll be back....

Love you sisters......
