Hello everyone! Perhaps you have seen the Mel Gibson movie, The Passion of the Christ. If ever a film portrayed the graphic details of the Passion Gibson's depiction did. It's not my intention to discuss rather or not you like the movie, but I would like to point out that for many Christians our Saviour's Passion ends with the glorious resurrection. What about now? What is in His heart and emotions when He looks at you? How about when He sees your loneliness and everyday struggles? Where is He? Is there something He despertately wants to communicate with you? This is a topic dedicated to Jesus of the People, the glorified risen Christ but the incredibly Human Man who hasn't changed one bit since He walked the shores and villages of Galilee... this wonderful, feeling, deeply passionate Jesus. I'll start at the beginning with a theme we've all heard since we were very young: Once upon a time: It’s there, all throughout the Bible, the stuff of legends, the great love story. The damsel in distress, the one locked in the tower surrounded by thorns, the wayward one who sought out lesser lovers only to have her heart broken. She was beautiful in the beginning. No one could compare to her. The Prince had longed for her, before time began. He always longed for her, a bride. You’ll find this longing throughout his book. (Ezekiel 16:14, Isaiah 54:4-6, Hosea 2:19, 2 Cor.11:2, Rev. 21:19 to name a few) She was created in His image. “Male and female He created them.” (Genesis) two, yet they were one. The he-she of His Being. This was the beginning of what He called. “Bride.” She was beautiful, innocent, unashamed and naked. But every love story has a villain. It can be a witch, or an evil wizard but the bait is set. And there’s always a promise. She will become wise. She will become powerful if she only processes the fourth ring. The promise appears beautiful but it is the beautiful side of evil and ultimately leads to death. So Bride picks her finger with the needle. She eats the poisoned apple. Immediately the curse takes effect, not only upon her but the whole kingdom. Sleep comes upon one and all. Great thorns grow up all around the castle and cover the entire wood or winter has come without the joy of Christmas. The last petal is about to fall from the enchanted rose. All hope is gone. She has been wounded with a wound from which there seemingly is no cure. Who will dare scale the castle wall or enter the thorn-briar wood to face the dragon? There comes a Hero! “Behold! There shines a light in the darkened wood! There comes a Knight to do thee good! Through the briars He reached His hand. The Soul awakens at his command, “Entrapped thus ye break My heart. I push the thorny branches apart.” The soul so long in darkness lain, beholds his hand torn in pain. The thorns grasped and marked with furrows red. His white palm until it bled.” http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-8/1059251/christrescuesthesoulbetter.jpg Your thoughts?

The Good Shepherd He Is ~I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep~ ~I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep and am known of mine~ Jesus Christ of Nazareth What an amazing thing this Jewish Rabbi said in these words! For in Biblical days, shepherds were looked upon with contempt. They were considered “lower class” citizens, only one step above a leper. It is no wonder the religious leaders of the day desired to get rid of Him! His teachings were contradicting what they taught by word and example. But His are the ways of love. There are many implications of Him calling Himself the “Good Shepherd” Here, let us focus on a few. Jesus was identifying with the common people, who were for the most part, looked down on. By identifying with them He was saying in essence, “I know your plight, I understand you’re feeling less than the Pharisees. I understand what it means to be rejected, misunderstood, shamed. I understand your grief of heart for I made the heart. By identifying with the common, sinners, outcasts and sick He was actually lifting them up. How is must have shocked the hearers to hear His willingness to bear the reproach of the Pharisees for them. Who really was this kind, gentle, loving Rabbi? How He was turning their world upside down! Such teachings, they never heard! Secondly, twice He called Himself the “Good Shepherd”. My pastor of old often told us that when God repeats Himself, we need to listen with our whole being because He is trying to drive home a very important principle. What does the word “good” mean? According to Strong’s Hebrew and Greek dictionaries the first definition means “beautiful” And to those who have relationship with this Good Shepherd this is one of our dearest descriptions of Jesus. He is absolutely beautiful! Precious soul, this beautiful God, our beloved Jesus, this Good Shepherd is still seeking out and looking for hurting, lost lambs. He is still seeking out sheep that have strayed. Are you one that He is looking for? ~He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young~ © Virginia Ganskie, 7-7-06

hello everyone, One thing that I really love about this thread is the level of intimacy with God that is reflected in the writings………..Often, the way that we express our love for Christ becomes such a routine, locked inside the use of washed-out words and cliché emotions that don’t belong to us………………….It is so refreshing to bare one’s soul here, with no sense of falseness and reserve......Thanks so much for continuously writing…… quote:
This is a topic dedicated to Jesus of the People, the glorified risen Christ but the incredibly Human Man who hasn't changed one bit since He walked the shores and villages of Galilee... this wonderful, feeling, deeply passionate Jesus. Sister, thanks again for reminding us about that................... quote:
What about now? What is in His heart and emotions when He looks at you? How about when He sees your loneliness and everyday struggles? Where is He? Is there something He despertately wants to communicate with you? Jesus is present by my side, every single moment, and, even though i cannot "feel" His presence at times, i know He is there. " When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown"(Isaiah 43:2) The story doesn't end with Jesus's resurrection.... He's here with us now, and longs for a romance with us....... quote:
Once upon a time: It’s there, all throughout the Bible, the stuff of legends, the great love story. The damsel in distress, the one locked in the tower surrounded by thorns, the wayward one who sought out lesser lovers only to have her heart broken. She was beautiful in the beginning. I push the thorny branches apart.” The soul so long in darkness lain, beholds his hand torn in pain. The thorns grasped and marked with furrows red. His white palm until it bled.” Kisstheson, I loved how you brought the theme, intertwining common stories with the greatest story ever….. The beautiful bride and her lover…..the jealous villain who is excluded and seeks revenge….. We are all Jesus’ beloved… what lover today would go though what he did for us? Satan in the garden brought in confusion and separation from God………Jesus is the redeemer….. You write so beautifully....... Blessings

This morning, about 7:30, my phone rings, a friend wants to know if I want to go to the big "city triathalon" with him, the day is sooo beautiful I tell him I will be right over. we got there right as it was finishing up ... not wanting to blow a perfectly gorgeous day we decided to wald from the school to the park anyway. his wife moved out on him.. in with another man a few months ago, and he has been doing some desparate soul searching. gave his life to Jesus, started going to church.. not every week but did start going. on the walk he talked about all that "stuff" it led right into a wonderful discussion about Jesus.. about grace, forgiveness, holding grudges,.. handing it over to God, about new beginnings, love. ... we walked the entire trail (about 3 miles) he is getting to know Jesus for the 1st time.

Yeeehhhh.........virginia......i was alreading missing your writings...... quote:
Jesus was identifying with the common people, who were for the most part, looked down on. By identifying with them He was saying in essence, “I know your plight, I understand you’re feeling less than the Pharisees. I understand what it means to be rejected, misunderstood, shamed. I understand your grief of heart for I made the heart. We shoul bring our brokenness to Him, He did not come for those who are all powerful and full of themselves...........Jesus tells me, it is OK: you can admit to me you are broken....I have been there, i know how it feels.....I have been treated badly.....I know how it feels.....I have been talked down upon....You and I, we understand each other..... quote:
Precious soul, this beautiful God, our beloved Jesus, this Good Shepherd is still seeking out and looking for hurting, lost lambs. He is still seeking out sheep that have strayed. Are you one that He is looking for? ~He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young~ oh viginia, .....this Good Shepherd is still seeking out and looking for hurting, lost lambs. He is still seeking out sheep that have strayed. Are you one that He is looking for? the message is so encouraging.................. There are so many times, when we have rushed to go somewhere, to get something, or to meet someone, and just as we got closer to our aim, the door was closed in our face...just like that.... no pleading changed the matters. With Jesus, it is different...He is actually the one doing the search for His children who haven't found the road to His Father's house yet...Why should I continue to hide when my Savior is out there looking for me? Why should i resist His call when my heart longs for a place to call home? Thanks belovedofgod blessings and love

Lord we thank you for that lamb you are holding in your hands right now. The path has been difficult, and several times, the situation was desperate. Lord, whether events will bring in more pain is unknown to us, but to you, everything is possible... Lord, with You by his side, he will be strenghtened, Lord, thank yo ufor bringing the lamb back home.

The Day I Said "I Can't" ~Through faith…from weakness (they) became strong~ My relationship with God changed forever that day. I was wrestling with a decision that was causing me agony. We were invited to spend the holidays, with some close relatives. But instead of bringing me joy, anxiety rose within my heart. As I pondered the decision before the LORD, the Holy Spirit reminded me that "Love, seeketh not her own" (I Corinthians 13:5). "Yes, that is right," I thought, "I need to prefer them and do what they want, not what I want." Anxiety to the point of panic attack filled my heart. I said to God for the first time in my life "I can't." Immediately the sweet presence of God consumed me as I heard Him whisper in my ear, "I know. And it is alright." God knew someone in this family verbally abused me for years. Viscous gossip and slander had been spread around about me. I was being destroyed by the hurtful words. Sweet peace filled my heart as I began resting in the realization that God knows me better than I know myself. "Oh, Lord, thou hast searched me and known me…You understandeth my thoughts from afar." "He understandeth our frame and remembers that we are as dust." I was taught to memorize His promises such as "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and that we are not to fear anything but God. The Christians I knew did not share when they were struggling. We are looked down upon if people consider us weak. Being a lover of Scripture, I knew the verses. However, I did not know my limitations. And I did not understand God's loving ways. I was not taught about the long-suffering, tender mercy of God and that He meets us at our point of need. On the night before He was crucified, as Jesus ate the Passover Supper with His disciples, we have recorded what is His last prayer with them. Oh, gaze in awe, closer into the heart of the Almighty, as He breathes His prayer to our Heavenly Father! In that prayer He is talking to the Father about His disciples and He says, "They have kept My Word." How could He say that? What was Jesus thinking? They were all about to forsake Him due to fear for their own lives. They fell asleep on Him when He desperately needed their support. Precious soul, it is because Jesus, our adorable Lord of love, looks upon us and sees us as perfect. "Love…thinketh no evil." Jesus never sees the worse in us. He always sees the best. He sees us with such eyes of love and compassion, as He knows the struggles that we go through. He knows that only He can perfect us. He meets us where we are, takes us with His nail-pierced hands and leads us, at our own pace, to that Celestial City where we truly will be perfect. It is all right, dear one, to sometimes say, "I can't." Because in the midst of our weakness He says to us, "I will." ~My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness~ © Virginia Ganskie

Kisstheson, Thank you for all your sweet, kind remarks. I guess I feel I can be vulnerable because 1. He know all about me - even the worse and yet does not condemn me! So that helps free me somewhat to be able to share - doesn't mean sometimes I get a little frightened.2. The gospels are very real to share the sins and shortcomings about people (Peter being a good example). So when I started studying the way Jesus related to those people and did not judge or condemn the sinners, weak, etc, that is when I really started falling in love with Him because being the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, I know that how kind and patient He was with them - it began sinking into my heart that He was the same way with me. I never knew that Jesus before I really started studying His character. I really identified with many of the people in the gospel stories

Hi everyone, virginia, this meditation is a direct message from God... Since yesterday, i have been thinking about a way to encourage a friend who is facing a difficult situation now, academically......in my mind, i thought about many verses relating to brokenness, and how Jesus wants us most when we feel cheap, and belittled my others, and inadequate, bombarded by all kinds of negative messages, and facing what we think is an obstacle that cannot be overcome..... quote:
We are looked down upon if people consider us weak. Being a lover of Scripture, I knew the verses. Alas, when will feel at our lowest, we often hide because of the World's standard: You should be strong, be on top of all situations.....Just get the job done.....Do it fast fast fast or you are a failure......what a refreshment and a source of Hope to see , as the veil is taken of that Jesus invites us.... My child, you are not that, Come and rest here, It is Ok to feel that way, confide in me and everything will be fine.... quote:
Sweet peace filled my heart as I began resting in the realization that God knows me better than I know myself. "Oh, Lord, thou hast searched me and known me…You understandeth my thoughts from afar." "He understandeth our frame and remembers that we are as dust." Amen to this.... Thanks again virginia...

Thank you precious ones for all the encouraging words! And to the posters - I am sooooooo greatful that you are sharing your love for Jesus!!! What sweet messages of love to Him. How it must bringsuch joy to His heart! A sweet, fragrant perfume to Him! These verses have become so very precious to me: Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Awesome!!! As we share about Jesus with each other and think about Him He is having it put down in a special book in Heaven. And we will be His and He considers us His jewels! I mean what more could anyone ever ask for. Oh, what joy those verses bring to my heart!!

Jesus Our Defender ~Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. ~ Great peace can become ours when we realize that Jesus defends, protects and praises His own children for their works done from a loving heart. He knows our limitations and frailties and rewards us at the smallest of efforts that we bestow on our Lord of love. The woman in our story came to realize that we bring joy to our Savior when we serve Him in whatever way we can. In this true story, Jesus was spending one of His last days on earth in a town where He was welcomed and adored. How kind of the Heavenly Father to provide His Son with such loving hearts shortly before He was murdered! What courage must have been infused into His heart through spending time with Martha, Mary and Lazarus! He was welcomed and loved by these three. What a breath of joy to Jesus were they as He made His way to the Cross! As Jesus ate with His disciples, Mary came and gave Him the best she could offer. With rare insight into His suffering and death to come, she anointed His body to be buried with the precious ointment she had obtained. The ointment was the most valuable thing that was hers. What was beautiful to Jesus in her actions was criticized by some. Isn’t this often the way that others see our actions? While Jesus sees our sincerest efforts and is thrilled, others criticize our efforts or even demand of us more than we can give. “Let her alone; why trouble ye her? She hath wrought a good work on me. She hath done what she could,” Jesus said. Oh, such protecting, defending love! Oh, what great relief it brings us when we know our God understands us and does not expect or demand more than we can give. Others may attack or criticize our work or actions but what does our beloved Jesus do? Our blessed God covers and shields us with His wings of love as He defends and praises even the smallest of efforts. “She hath done what she could.” Beloved child of God, are your efforts unappreciated and criticized? Do others sometimes shame your best efforts and reward you with condemnation? Let us remember that God, the only one who has the right to judge, does not judge us but says “Let her (him) alone. Why trouble ye her? She hath wrought a good work on me.” © Virginia Ganskie

I enjoy reading the precious things you share about our Lord Jesus. May God gives us the grace that we never grow tired of speaking about Him. There is no one like Him and there is no lack in Him. This meditation in particular brought to mind a poem Jesus gave me. I do believe this is true that Jesus keeps a special book of remembrance in Heaven. The poem is written as though He Himself would speak it all those who are a part of His Bride: Jesus speaks: Gold leaf pages unscathed by time The story is yours, the story is Mine Sunlit days and storms we have weathered My love, we have written our story together I covered you Bride, your love fresh born With colors never faded bright as morn Purple, sapphire, dipped in blood red My cloak I gave on the day we were wed Bride of My heart I am faithful and true My love I have written on pages for you And I have kept what you’ve written too The seasons we shared, the moments dear Love letters, poetry, and your stories here I’ve pressed each page with a crimson rose None can steal. No one can impose Neither take what is shut with lock and key The secrets whispered between you and Me Open the book to the deepest center Deep unto deep, together we enter!

How very, very special that is, kisstheson! More beautiful than the most beautiful diamond. I shall print that one out and often refer to it especially when the days become quite rough! How very precious that is to me. Worth more than all treasures here on earth. How can one describe the value that our Lord places on our sharing about Him together? thank you, precious Sister!

Back into His arms again... Long was the errand, Through the path of thorns. Lacerations on the hem of my cloth, And blisters on my feet, Are silent evidence from the ordeal. Yet, as I stand at the sacred gates, Which open onto Your safe place, I have no remnants of fear left. As a red drop falls on me, From the rugged cross, I finally exhale, And shout ‘Lord, I am back!’ As always, your welcome is warm, You open Your arms wide, And I fall into them. How I have longed for your sweet whispers! Your voice is music to my soul, My heart is full of Joy, I belong nowhere else, And I am here to stay.

quote:
The woman in our story came to realize that we bring joy to our Savior when we serve Him in whatever way we can. quote:
What was beautiful to Jesus in her actions was criticized by some. Isn’t this often the way that others see our actions? While Jesus sees our sincerest efforts and is thrilled, others criticize our efforts or even demand of us more than we can give. quote:
“She hath done what she could.” Beloved child of God, are your efforts unappreciated and criticized? Do others sometimes shame your best efforts and reward you with condemnation? Let us remember that God, the only one who has the right to judge, does not judge us but says “Let her (him) alone. Why trouble ye her? She hath wrought a good work on me.” Beautiful Virginia, and thanks you so much for this......So many are experts in bringing others down, and polarizing on their weaknesses....How we need to keep in mind that Jesus sees and loves every tiny step that we take towards Him!!!! Great encouragement...

quote:
Jesus speaks: Gold leaf pages unscathed by time The story is yours, the story is Mine Sunlit days and storms we have weathered My love, we have written our story together I covered you Bride, your love fresh born With colors never faded bright as morn Purple, sapphire, dipped in blood red My cloak I gave on the day we were wed Bride of My heart I am faithful and true My love I have written on pages for you And I have kept what you’ve written too The seasons we shared, the moments dear Love letters, poetry, and your stories here I’ve pressed each page with a crimson rose None can steal. No one can impose Neither take what is shut with lock and key The secrets whispered between you and Me Open the book to the deepest center Deep unto deep, together we enter! kisstheson, this is beyond description .... You did capture the essence of romance with our Lord in such an amazing way....Thanks very much for blessing us with this Love message from Him....

He's at again, that sweet Jesus, inspiring your love! This is absolutely beeeeeautiful, well written with lovely word pictures. Yup! My kind of poetry alright! Later I have another poem that goes with what you've written here Potirone 'cept it's Jesus speaking. Dear Jesus I pray that You would give our friend MORE! More words form you. I pray that they would come so quickly that she wouldn't be able to find a pen quick enough. As King David observed, "My tongue as as the pen of a ready writer." (Psalm 45:1) Blessings! Amy
