This was an awesome reply. I'll share more later but right now I really need to get off the puter.

quote:

About two years ago that fear took over my life so strongly. That all I would do was cry, cry, cry and beg God that He would take the fear away. And wonder how He could leave me in it alone...I went for a month without eating or without talking to anyone...All that I knew as a believer seemed to become meaningless when I actually had to fight...The difficult time brought the realization out that I knew Christ, but I didn't KNOW Him.

I could talk to many people about Him. Could give them answers...true, honest answers, but I couldn't let those answers be real to my own life. And I needed those answers to be real to my own life...I needed Him to be real. To know that I know that His a friend that walks in when all others walk out. That He has all the answers even if I can not see them all, that He is in the little things like the rain, that He doesn't just have all this TRUTH about Him and just not make it true in my life...

I can say that in my own life sufferings and hardship is what led me to Christ or should I say that Christ proved himself to be very real during those times. When I first came to experience the Friend Jesus it was while looking at three stained glass windows depicting the Passion and sufferings of Christ. I saw as I gazed in His eyes a reflection of my suffering and I knew He understood the fear, loneliness etc that I was feeling. How could I not help but open my heart to this One who was so compassionate? I was fourteen years old then.

Honestly the true reason I asked you the question was because I wanted to hear you talk about Jesus. Sometimes people throw around terms like "relationship with Jesus" but what does that mean? How do we know Him? What about Christ causes you to want to know Him more? Do you understand what I mean?

PopsiLufsJesus -> RE: Jesus Christ - Let's Share about Him! (7/26/2008 1:11:35 AM)

Hehe...I know exactly what you mean!!!

And I kind of had you figured out on that one...because that is something that I would do to someone...

In fact, I read your post last night, but I was too tired to reply than...and so I had ample time to rest and then respond...

Oh so you found me out...

here's something that blessed me today...

Dennis Jernigan's version of Zeph 3:17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The eternal self-existent God, the God who is three in one. He who dwells in
the center of your being is a powerful and valiant warrior. He has come to
set you free, to keep you safe and bring you to victory, He is cheered, and
He beams with exceeding joy and takes pleasure in your presence. He has
engraved a place for Himself in you, and there He quietly rests in His love
and affection for you. He cannot contain Himself at the thought of you and
with the greatest joy spins around wildly in anticipation over you and has
placed you above all other creations and in the highest place in his
priorities. In fact, He shouts and sings in triumph joyfully proclaiming the
gladness of His heart in a song at rejoicing! All because of you<---!!!

I'm cool...I was wondering where the host of this thread is.

Here's a prayer to Jesus someone wrote on another forum...

O Sweet Beloved Lord, deign to let every soul anoint You with overflowing cups of Love, as You blessed us with Your ever-flowing rivers of most lovable Blood from Your own dear Heart. Amen forever and forever, till all hearts live with You.

Here's something to think about. I was reading the gospel of Mark. In the story of the rich young man Mark comments that when Jesus looked at the young man he loved him. (Mark 10:21) What impressed mark so much that he would say "looking at him Jesus loved him"? What did mark see that would cause him years later to record that phrase in his gospel?

That's a great question, Kiss. And who noticed Jesus' love in his eyes and facial expression? What were those expressions? Hey, can you clean out your mail box so I can send you that stuff I wanted to send to you? I can't get through to your box. It's jammed packed. Thanks, dear!!!! :)

Tonight Lord Jesus I thank for the gift of faith. It doesn't matter what we need to overcome. YOU are the One who is able to help us in any situation. Thank You Jesus for directing my eyes, heart and mind towards You and encouraging me. With God nothing is impossible. You stirred my faith tonight and lite a fire of trust in me...trust in You, my Jesus.

"'embrace the God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, "Go jump in the lake-no shuttling, or silly shallying-and it is good as done. That's why I urge you to pray wholeheartedly for absolutely everything, ranging from small or large. Include everything as you believe this God-life, and you'll get God's everything."

Hello, my dear Amy,

It was so good to see this thread still up and running. Thank you, so much for keeping it alive!

Regarding your comment above: I believe Mark got his information from the Apostle Peter rather than being a direct witness, although I stand corrected on that. If I am correct, it would have been Peter who remembered the love in those eyes... Mark was the son of one of the Marys of the Gospels, apparently.

But, so as not to quench the thought but to blow a little fire on it, I will add this....

Mark was the nephew of Barnabas of Acts. Remember, Barnabas was the encourager.

Also, remember, the Apostle Paul did not want to have Mark come along on the missionary trip but Barnabas did. For some reason, the Apostle Paul did not think Mark was adequate enough or could handle the trip.

Imagine how Mark must have felt! Probably inadequate according to Paul's standards!

But, who was the one who the Lord chose to write one of the gospels? It was Mark, not Paul!

So, the Lord, in His precious grace and mercy, gave the privledge of writing one of the gospels to the very one Paul had rejected.

Oh, the goodness, mercy, tenderness and kindness of our God! Glory be to His precious name........!

Peter would have known quite a bit about the look in Jesus' eyes. After he denied Christ three times the gospel says that Jesus "turned and looked at him." Afterwards peter wept bitterly. what did peter see in those yes personally and to have also recalled the look Jesus gave to the rich young ruler? What made peter weep bitterly? What does it mean when mark says, "jesus looked at him and loved him?"

Can anyone decribe "That look...?"

WHO JESUS IS TO ME

When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face death, He carries me Home!

He is everything for everybody everywhere, every time, and every way.
He is God, He is faithful, I am His, and He is mine!

My Father in heaven can whip the father of this world.
So, if you’re wondering why I feel so secure, understand this…..

He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side
And that means all is well with my soul.

Everyday is a blessing because GOD IS!

My favorite subject - Getting To Know Jesus.

I am simply seeking to build my relationship with Jesus like the Apostles. I look at Him as a role model as well as a Savior. I want to have a more passionate, personal and powerful relationship with Him so I will live my life more like His example.

May God bless you as you are getting to know Jesus.

Thank you, so much.

You have said more than a heartful in the part of your post I emboldened.

For, to have that type of relationship, don't you think that we need to believe that He is passionate in His love to us?

We don't talk about that very much in American Christianity. But, I was reading someone's reply to me elsewhere and they posted something to the effect "Do you realize how crazy He is about you?" And how He cannot keep His eyes off of me and that He not only loves me but He is in love with me (us).

Maybe, if more of us really grasped the above, we would become more on fire for Him?

Blessed Hope!

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid:
For the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation

The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
The LORD shall reign forever and ever.

My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

~So~

Take heart, all who are struggling with battles that have already been won; awake, all who have fallen asleep from loads too heavy to bear; see, all who have been blinded by the flames of disappointment; hear all who have been deafened by the roar of defeat; arise, all who have become lame from wounds unjustly earned; get up, yes, get up all who have been felled by the broken sword of satan's lies; for joy, joy unspeakable is in our midst.

~ Look up, for your redemption draweth nigh!

The Dove

~Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes~

Every spring, the consciousness of her gentle cooing begins to speak of the beauty of the season. After a long winter, her song begins shortly after the daffodils break through the earth, heralding the beginning of new life.

This year was no different. Her soft voice speaks to my heart as does the gentle Dove of God, the precious Holy Spirit. Once more, her cooing slowly penetrated into my consciousness as we began experiencing a glorious flower-scented spring.

One day, I noticed her voice quite near; in the walnut tree that shades my bedroom. Within a few more days I heard her fluttering, with song-like wings, across my deck. Back and forth she fluttered for days ~the dove~ appeared to experience ~no rest for her feet~.

And then…God spoke. He assured me that He had caused this reminder from His creation. He tenderly shared that, I had no rest in my heart. As the dove fluttered back and forth, the gentle Dove of God was fluttering over me; fretful at the sorrow in my heart…

The aching heart of one, whose soul has been broken, battered, bruised….

The dove stopped fluttering across my deck the other day. Once again, I only heard her gentle cooing.

And then…God spoke again….reassuring, comforting, holding me close to His breast. The fluttering of His precious Spirit will soon stop fluttering over my broken heart as His tender touch begins to bring His healing touch to me once more.

The Dove

Beauty from Ashes

It has been a year now since I first wrote about the dove. She has returned...her beautiful wings brought her back to my property and I often hear her gentle cooing once more in my Walnut Tree. I rarely see her. A timid bird, she is.

My heartbreak persists although some days I am free from it...my love of laughter is finding its way back into my life...a true gift from my God. He has been so good to me, this God, my Jesus. He has given me so much help from sources I would never have thought of. Every day I am reminded of His gentle, tender care.

I find purpose in my pain now. They tell me that those who suffer much are greatly favored. This is strange to my human way of thinking. I can truly say now that I have suffered the loss of all things...if I use my pain correctly, I will find something special from my God, of that, I can be certain. Would that it would be a deeper knowledge of Him and His love for me. Reveal Yourself to me, dear Lord. Reveal Yourself to me.

I long to use what I learn and what I have felt through it all to pour into other's lives whose hearts ache. Oh, there are so many out there! Where will I start?

I will start by giving all of who I am and what I have endured, back into His hands so that not only will He use it to bring beauty from ashes into my life but that it might also be used to help bring beauty into others, as well.

Songs for the Shepherd

~I am the good shepherd~

~The LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rearward~

Who is this good Shepherd? Why, He is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. It seems strange that He should identify Himself in such a way. For, in those days, shepherds were looked down upon. Away with the thought that we Westerners have of them; clean and handsome. No, they were filthy dirty and looked much like raga muffins. And, yet our dear Savior identifies with such. We should not find it strange. It seems He preferred the lepers, the sinners, the outcasts, the harlots, the fishermen. Of such He went after. Those were His ways.

~I am the good shepherd~, He proclaimed in the Gospel of John. When He described Himself as good, what was He saying? There seems hardly enough room for all of the superlatives that were listed. Some of them were, beautiful, excellent, eminent, surpassing, precious, admirable, comforting…oh! Blessed Shepherd! How beautiful you are!

The shepherd goes before the sheep and the sheep follow Him because they know His voice and they have come to trust Him. Sheep are very timid creatures. They will not follow a stranger. They have come to trust in one. The one, who provides for them, leads them to wonderful pasture, and brooks of water. The one who picks them up when they fall as they cannot pick themselves up. The one who examines them and makes certain there is nothing harmful in their fur or noses. This shepherd will not harm them; they know that for He has been good to them. He is intimately acquainted with each of them and loves each dearly.

Such is our Shepherd God, the Lord Jesus Christ. This Shepherd God will bring quiet rest to our anxious hearts if we but follow and trust Him, ever listening to His gentle call. He will not lead us astray. He will go after us, if we wander away. He goes after the lost sheep until He finds them, you know. After He finds them He brings them back to the fold where it is safe for He always guards and protects His sheepfold. And, what of the little lambs? He oft carries them close to His heart while He whispers His sweet, tender words of love into their little lamb’s ears.

Finally, this beautiful Shepherd does not forget the weak, the fragile, the stragglers, the aged. For that is when He comes behind the flock as their rearward to make certain that none are left behind. He strengthens the weak, the fragile and the ones that would fall by the wayside. Not a one of the sheep will be left behind. He protects those in the rear from the enemy who would attack. If need be, He picks them up and puts them on His strong shoulders and carries them the rest of the way home. He not only picks them up but He picks up the messes they leave behind. Nothing escapes this dear Shepherd’s attention. Everything that concerns His beloved sheep, concerns Him. Not one of them shall ever be plucked out of His hand because this Shepherd will keep all of His sheep forever at His side because of His great love for them.

And this good Shepherd is so very beautiful...

Jesus, Friend of Sinners

Jesus, what a Friend of sinners You are.
So compassionate, kind, my bright Morning Star.
How patient You have been with me, dear Lord.
My tears you wipe, my heart you restore.

No condemnation from You I felt,
While You gently lead me, my heart You do melt.
With tenderness, pity, understanding You heal,
My deep wounds, upon the cross You did feel.

My Jesus, I love you more than before,
How precious You are, while You knock at the door,
Of my broken heart, from eternity You knew,
Knowing all about me, yet You never withdrew.

Oh, Jesus, how can I say thank you my Friend?
There for me while my heart You gently do mend.
My Jesus, You are the One I adore,
Placed inside Your bleeding wounds,
Jesus, while all else fails, I need nothing more.

Faithfulness He is Guided By

~And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins~

What a beautiful day we awoke to at the Pacific Coast! There was not a trace of fog and so we went for a walk on the beach early that September day. Warm sunshine enveloped us and sparkled upon the bluest ocean as diamonds. The air was so fresh and seagulls were out, while sandpipers danced before us in the sand. Oh, if I could stop that moment in time, a perfect morning on the coast of California.

Suddenly, there appeared a rider on a beautiful black horse. The stallion was the picture of strength and yet he was guided by the slightest movement of his reins. I walked up and pet him, asking the rider what breed He was. One-half Arabian and one-half Thoroughbred she informed me. With that she gently pulled on his reins and down the beach they went.

God’s soft voice then reminded me that God is guided by faithfulness in His dealings with His people. ~And faithfulness (is) the girdle of his reins~. God is speaking to us through this scripture and assuring us that He is faithful, faithful, faithful! He cannot be otherwise. If He were unfaithful to us at any part of our journey with Him we would always have doubts whether He would ultimately fail us.

Just as that beautiful black stallion was guided by the rider’s reins, faithfulness guides our God’s reins. He is using a word picture in our scripture as He wants to re-assure us that He will never fail us. We may rest assured that He will accomplish in and through our lives His purpose for our lives and bring us through this life guided by the reins of His faithfulness.

~ And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called
Faithful and True. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS~

The Dove

Part Three

Quickly, the days of fall approach now. The beautiful maples are becoming brilliant with color, as the days shorten and shadows begin to grow. I hear no more my sweet dove’s gentle cooing. I wonder where she went; where God puts it into her tiny dove’s heart to fly each fall. I miss her tender reminders of God’s tender-loving care of me.

And yet, my God gives me continual reminders of the message of peace a gentle dove can give. As I work in the beautiful church rose garden each week, I find yet evidence of the dove’s message of comfort to my still-sorrowful heart. For in the garden, as I bend down, I find a pure white feather; the first I have seen in my life. ~It must be a dove’s feather~ I think to myself.

~Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away and be at rest~

But first, I must come face to face with the greatest and saddest change of my life. I count the days now as fear and grief threaten to overwhelm me. But my God…but my God! What would I do without you my beloved Jesus? Oh, you know all about that Dove. For that beautiful, gentle, peaceful Dove rested upon your lovely head years ago.

The dove has flown away. But my story is not over yet. For it was when the dove finally flew from the ark and never returned that she had found rest for the sole of her foot.

I will probably never see that dove again but God has so lovingly told me that I will yet find rest for my oft-sorrowful heart.

To my treasured readers…some of you may have already heard this song I link to at youtube. But I wanted to play it again as it reflects part of my life and this message. For the song begins with scenes of fall which we are entering into. It then brings us to scenes of the coast where I used to live. Then brings us into beautiful scenes of the mountains. I live in the beautiful mountains, now. And then it ends at the coast where I hope to be able to move to next spring… and begin my new life…that is why I would not see or hear the dove anymore….

Never Alone!

~ I will never leave thee or forsake thee~

Of all the promises given the Christian by God, this certainly must be one of the most glorious! ~I will never leave thee or forsake thee~, our God says. And behind this beautiful statement stands the faithfulness of a God Who cannot lie. Oh, lovely assurance that, though all may leave us, our God will not!

So, let us look a little closer at this verse. Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary says that the word “never” in the verse is a double negative strengthening the denial. Blessed God that would have us know for certain that when He says never in this verse, He means never! The words leave and forsake indicate that our God will not leave us behind in a place of suffering. He will not abandon us. He will never leave us alone, unaided to defend ourselves. He will be with us through every heartbreak, every loss, every illness, every death.

Quite frequently, I read of dear children of God who question Him during times of deep trouble. They feel alone and abandoned by God; confused and in grief. Oh, I have been there myself! Through dark night of soul and spirit, through being abandoned and betrayed, through losing health and reputation, how often I have wondered where God is, groping through the darkest of nights.

Where is He when we have been betrayed and abandoned by our best friend and lover? ~The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms~. Where is He when we know not were our next meal will come from? ~Your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things~ He feedeth the fowls of the air. Are ye not much better than they? Where is He when we fear the winds of political change and the economy is failing? ~I am the Lord. I change not~ Where is He when we struggle to be free of addictions and continue to fail? ~Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy~!

Child of His love! He has not left us! He will never leave us! When all is dark about us is the time He is closest to us. The clouds are but the dust of His feet. And the day will come when we shall behold the sunshine of His love again and the earth shall sing with joy around us. We shall behold our Father’s dear face, look into our Savior’s eyes and see the gentle, tender-mercy that was always there for us.

I Can't Live a Day Without You, Jesus!
