MyCatSmokey,

Thank you for sharing!

These poems are precious

As I read the one about Jesus and the children, it makes me think of the passages in the Gospel of John where Jesus calls His apostles "little children". How His great heart of Love must have been burning with love, affection and tenderness towards them as He shared some of His last thoughts with them before He went to the Cross!

We, even as adults, are God's little children and His heart yearns after us all so much!

BelovedoftheLord

P.S. I love cats! I have two that are so spoiled + some ferals that I feed. At one point I had four but that was a bit much.

For God So Loves

Part One

~For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life~
John 3:16

Do we really believe the above verse? Most Christians will wholeheartedly agree that God loves them, but do we really believe He does? As I read the verse today, it was as if I read it for the first time.

As I often do, with my imagination, I placed myself at the scene of where our Lord Jesus Christ spoke this to Nicodemas, a Jewish leader of the time. The realization that here was the Son of God, speaking this truth about the Heavenly Father grabbed me. Here are the words that the greatest Man, Who ever walked the face of this earth said about God the Father. These were not random words spoken by some obscure prophet but they are Words straight from the lips of Jesus Christ, Himself! They must be true because Jesus speaks no falsehood!

Years ago, during a dark time of my life, one of the ladies in our Bible Study group sent me a card. In it she said, “Virginia, God loves you”. The card, which was meant to help me, brought great resentment to my heart. The one who sent it had not been a Christian for long. I had been and I was also her Bible Study leader. “Of course I know God loves me”, I thought to myself. “Who does she think she is”, telling me something I already know”, my prideful heart reflected.

Pam (not her real name) knew exactly what she wrote me. For although I thought I believed God loved me, the reality was I doubted it in my heart. Thus began a search into the very depths of God; and His love for us. A number of years later I finally believe it but it took much searching and anguish of soul.

Child of His love! Are you going through a “dark night of the soul”? While the tempest swirls around you is it hard to see the kind eyes of Jesus? Is pain, blurring your vision of His loving face? Have you recently lost a loved one? Have you been abused or is your job and financial security threatened? Is a separation or divorce causing your heart to break?

Let us gaze once more on the Son of God as He ministered to the broken, needy, sinners, lepers. Let us observe Him as He goes after the one lost lamb while leaving the other ninety-nine behind. Watch! As He touched the untouchable leper who had known no touch for years. Look upon Him as He goes after one who was kicked out of the Synagogue by callous religious leaders. Oh, let us behold Him as He loved, loved, loved! As we watch Him dying on the cross, let us gaze on Him as some of His last dying breaths are breathed pleading for those who crucified Him!

Here's another poem I wrote about Jesus:

Jesus, A Child's Friend

He sits on a long, grey rock,
Snow-white robe swaying in the
Gentle spring breeze.

His silky brown hair
Framing His handsome face; His loving blue eyes
Glistening with joy.
His brown fuzzy beard
Tickling the face of a sweet,
Innocent child, cuddled in His arms.

Placing His tender hand upon
The child's curly head, He whispers
Precious words of love, joy and
Peace; easing his fears and
Singing sweet melodies into his
Little eager ears.

Then embracing the child in His gentle,
Loving way, He carefully eases him
Down to the grassy soil below and
Gives him back to his loving mother as
Another sweet, precious child rushes
Into His loving arms.

(I own the copyright on this poem, so it's okay for you to share it if you want as long as you give me credit for it.)

Beautiful picturesque poem! I would like to be the child in Jesus arms! Thanks for sharing!

Virginia,

I wanted to post this quote from the book, "He and I." It so clearly expresses the tenderness and sensitivity of our Lord. I hope it blesses you and your readers.

Jesus speaks:

(with tender intimacy...)

"When the moment of death comes for My friends, you believe, don't you, that I come gently with all the delicate touches you know, to take their souls into My kingdom? You would do the same if you were taking someone into one of your beautiful homes. You would want to feel the joy of their surprise, wouldn't you? Then I God, who love more and own more, how shall I fail to be interested in the passing of My friends from time?

Nothing that you may possibly imagined of the love of My heart comes anywhere near reality. Remember that I wanted your joy so much that I came down to earth to know suffering. And when I see you suffer, and suffer for Me, I gather each of your sufferings with great love, as though yours were greater than Mine and had a value that My heart would like to make infinite. And that is why, when you allow Me to do so, I merge your life with Mine."

kisstheSon,

That is sooo special! A real keeper. It is beautiful enough to print off and carry around in my Bible! I shall treasure it

Thank you so much Virginia for your prayers. No, I'm not back at work.......I've been sick to my stomach with extreme weakness now for over 2 weeks. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and would appreciate your prayers for God's will in that and also to soften my bosses heart that he will change his mind and pay me sick leave. Thank you once again for your prayers and encouragement. I know I need to rest and trust in the Lord......and give Him thanks in all things.

Here's something I wrote. I hope it alright for me to post it here. Virginia you're usually very accepting so here goes...

Here comes Jesus...He's holding out His hands. I remember how the Song of Solomon 5:11 says:

"His hands are golden, rounded, set with jewels of Tarshish."

That gesture of His, stetching out His hands to the unwanted, the forgotten, the sick, the lame and the blind and even the lepers...the leper. He could have healed that man form a distance, with a simple word and a nod of His head. The stentch and the sight of the man caused the crowds quickly to clear a wide path for he and Jesus. Jesus didn't run. He took full note of the sores that literally ate away the skin, the oozing blisters and the deformity his fifthy rags couldn't cover, a man whose dignity had been eatten away by his disease and who yearned for the touch of a whole, healthy hand on his shriveled flesh. Years of anger, bitterness, fear, lonliness and pain were met by Jesus' compassionate, healing touch.

That golden touch! He touched me to when no one else would. When others ran in retreat Jesus remained. Other hands were held up against me resistant, defiant and abusive, only His were opened and welcoming. In their safety my fears, bitterness, lonliness melted away also my sins as surely as the disease of that leper vanished.

Yet there is a greater treasure I find in His hands and all who find this treasure will be swept up into a greater devotion towards Jesus. What are these jewels? Finding them all the riches and wealth in this world cannot compare!

I am speaking about the wounds of Christ! Rich payment for my love and for my redemption, shall I pass over them as though they were mere trinkets in a dollar store? No! I have to take notice, I have to study, meditate and consider what's here, what's held opened to me? Jesus wills me to look!

To be continued...

Oh Amy!

That is sooo wonderful! How I can relate to that! I know many, many could/can relate to that article, especially if they understand that leprosy somehow related to sin in that day.

When others discard us, reject us, look down on us and refuse to "touch" us, yet our Dearest Jesus "touches" us and can make us whole when all else reject us! The stories of the lepers in the Gospels, I love so much because they represent the sinners, rejected, outcast, discarded and the ones who no one else will touch, sometimes...except for Jesus.

The fact that He touched the lepers and made contact with them when they were totally isolated and rejected by all else is so beautiful. Everyone else was afraid they would be contaminated. He ate with sinners, touched lepers, loved the unlovable! He loved me!!!

I hope we will get to see the next part of that article as I noticed that you wrote "to be continued". I am waiting to see it...

Whatever happened to the rest of your testimony? I have not looked recently but the last time I looked, it was not complete.

Your loving Sister,
Virginia

Jesus has opened His hands.

What are these "jewels" the Bride speaks of? (SOS 5:16) O they are the marks in His hands. Yet much more than marks are they. And they are not mere scars but wounds so deep that you can pass a finger clear to the other side of that wound.

"Unless I see the holes that the nails made in His hands and can put my finger into the holes..." said Thomas.

Jesus replied "Put your finger here, look here are My hands."

Do you see how His hands has been ravaged? Do you see the discoloring of that "golden hand" marred red and purple for love of you? That hand of Jesus when the spike was driven through trembled and clenched in pain as nerves were severed. One called the median nerve must have sent pain like sharp knifes stabbing the brain of Jesus. One physician has said when soldiers are shot through the hand in battle they are known to scream from the excruciating pain. Excruciating cru-ci-fix-tion pain. This is the agony Jesus willingly suffered for us.

O most lovable hand of Jesus hurt for us! How sad that there are those who would so hate and despise You and once again if it were possible, re-crucify Your kindness.

Yes, that's why as terrible and as ugly as these crucifixion wounds may appear, to the Bride they are beautiful. More than battle scars, they are wounds of love and triumph which the Bridegroom chose to keep. Resurrected, Jesus happily displayed them to His friends:

"Yes it is I indeed, touch Me and see for yourselves!" Luke 24:19

Jesus invites us to do the same. Are we lacking love for Him? Touch the wounds of Jesus! Are we doubting and full of fear? Touch the wounds of Jesus! Are we having trouble forgiving one who has wronged us? Touch the wounds of Jesus! Are we tempted by fleshly desires and attracted to the riches of this world? Touch the wounds of Jesus! Are we looking for unconditional love and acceptance? Touch the wounds of Jesus! Do we long to be a comfort to Christ and show our gratitude? Touch the wounds of Jesus!

Come by faith "You love Him even though you have not seen Him," says the apostle. Tell the Beloved you believe He is present and you adore His wounds and touch them.

The wounds of Christ are the great treasures and costly jewels, the expression of His deep abiding love for us.

"He bore to us a treasure like fine rubies of red,
The wounds of His dear Passion, the precious blood He shed."

But He Would Not Leave

~When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken
~

Eternal love bound Jesus to His astonished disciple. From eternity, Peter was carried on the great heart of Jesus. From eternity he was imbedded into the nail print of God’s hands which stretched out upon the cross, embracing all who come.

It was the beginning of a love affair between an impetuous Peter and the “Most High God”. God revealed Himself to His beloved disciple by reaching out to where Peter was at the time, in a fishing boat.

Peter, upon seeing the miracle of fishes, recognized the Divinity of Jesus. “Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” But Jesus would not leave Peter.

For three and one half years, Jesus patiently led and taught His disciple. Many times God’s kindness was revealed to sinful Peter. Peter saw the face of God, in the person of Jesus, ever clearer as this glorious Being unveiled Himself through the mistakes and pride of Peter. How many times Peter was humbled as the Son of God, Son of Man taught him the way of love. How many times would Peter bring grief to Jesus, in the end, forsaking Him. But Jesus would not leave.

Finally, as Jesus was nailed to the cruel cross, Peter must have thought that the end had come, and his beloved Master finally left him through death. Peter’s whole life was shattered; the end had come as the body of Jesus was placed in the tomb.

“Go tell my disciples and Peter that I am risen and I go before him unto Galilee.” What is this? Peter being especially sought after from God who died and rose again? Peter, the one who had sinned so against Jesus finally denying he knew Him?

But He will not leave. He cannot leave. He is bound by His faithfulness to stay by sinful disciples. It is against the very Love of God displayed on that cross for you and for me.

~I will never leave or forsake you~

The Love of God
Part Two

~For I am Persuaded~

When we read the Apostle Paul’s writings, we discern a spiritual giant. Certainly, there is not a greater figure in the Bible except Jesus Christ. Aside from a few incidents of his life, we see a man who, apparently had “arrived”. However, as we look closer, we are able to glean that he had to learn his lessons through constant difficulties. Allowing our imagination to travel with him through his journey, we can discern that he had to learn, as we also have to learn.

In Western Christianity, there appears to be an almost celebrity honoring of our “heroes”. We place spiritual giants on a pedestal. They do not ask us to place them there, however we often do. Many do that with people like the Apostle Paul.

But let us value the grace of humility and learn to come out from behind our spiritual masks as we read and apprehend that people like Paul had to learn and grow just as we do. We may be released from the bondage of being captive to others’ expectations of us, being set free from unhealthy shame, as we see ourselves through the heart of Jesus. He knows us through and through, accepts us and does not expect us to be more than we are capable of at any point of our journey.

~For I am persuaded~…Here is the gut wrenching reality of a man who said things such as ~I was with you in fear and trembling~. Does this sound like a man who was perfection personified? I think not. For the word persuaded is full of truth. Paul had to become persuaded as most of us when afflictions multiplied and shut him in prison, alone with His God. Through weakness, weariness, pain, rejection, and almost constant pressing Paul had to become persuaded, just as we.

Here was a man who had to learn about the all-sufficient love and keeping power of our gracious God. Becoming persuaded takes time and is based on the faithfulness of Jesus as we learn to unburden our fearful hearts to Him.

Oh, my dear Christian brethren! It is alright to be real and share our weaknesses, fears and uncertainty with each other! The world and other Christians need us to be real people. It is healthy, healing and brings peace to our troubled hearts when we realize that we are ~accepted in the Beloved~ no matter what anyone thinks of us. Jesus does not condemn us where we are at! Let us not feel condemned or let others place condemnation upon us for not being perfect!

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:31-39

Susan,

You have been so much in my thoughts and prayers! I saw your last post on the prayer forum.

You know, dear one, I was going to dedicate my last submission on this thread to you? I don't know why I didn't. Now I wish I had

Love,
Virginia

Hi jens1945,

Thank you, so much for the encouragement. I just love sharing what I learn about my adorable Lord with anyone that will read.

I am just starting to learn about an exciting, oh, so exciting new characteristic about Him that I cannot wait to write more about. It is not a new characteristic about Him but the unfolding of it to my adoring eyes is a new revelation/experience to me.

I wish more people would participate - we all have so many wonderful things to share about Him and it helps me keep my eyes on Him and He encourages me to continue to ~grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ~

Beloved

Did Your Eyes Meet His?

~The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world~

Did your eyes meet His, John? A most honored ministry you had, to prepare the way of the Messiah. When He walked past you did His eyes pierce yours with burning love?

Did your eyes meet His? You ~knew Him not~ until you saw the Holy Spirit come down as a dove and rest upon Him. Did He look towards you as He knew you were aware that He was the One Who was prophesized to come? He has the eyes of a dove, harmless and innocent. Oh, such eyes had never been seen before!

. What were in those eyes? Did you see the compassion and tender mercies that He would display throughout His ministry? Did you see acceptance in those eyes as holiness blazed out from them? Did He pierce your heart as He gazed knowingly into your soul yet with the tenderness of a mother, yearning for you?

You told us to ~Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world~. As you gazed upon Him you saw the unresisting innocence of a lamb being taken to the slaughter. You saw Him slaughtered for the sins of every human being that ever lived. You pondered His shortened life that would be cut off by the cruelty of man as He hung upon that horrible cross. You saw Him and His perfect love for the Father and for us as He obediently walked up the hill…to Calvary.

You beheld Him, John, you beheld Him! What were in those eyes as they first met yours? How I wish you could share with us of the time you first gazed on Him. Of how your heart nearly burst with adoration as you saw the fulfillment of thousands of years of prophecy walk before you. As He came up out of the water, His eyes gazing towards our Father. As in the days to come you would watch Him and see the eyes of God, the longing of every human being.

We will see His eyes, someday, also, John. As we gaze in wonder and awe at the ~Lamb slain from the foundation of the world~ we will see those eyes with you. We will see the love, acceptance, joy and innocence. We will see Him with His eyes forever fixed upon us in love and holiness. Our eyes will meet His with your eyes as millions of the redeemed finally gaze upon our adorable Lord and I will not need to ask you then. For my questions will be answered as I see Who you saw on that day you first beheld Him.

A note from Virginia: For my treasured readers who may not know who John is in this writing, I am writing of John the Baptist
