Our returning flight got changed to an hour earlier... too early in the morning!

I hate those early morning flights. When we went on our cruise we had to be at the airport at 5:30am. That was just too early.

Especially when, like you, Kath, you live out of the city and far from the airport. I hate those early times and I'm only ten minutes from the airport.

I don't think I'd want to be 10 minutes from it, that is just too close. Do you get a lot of noise from in/out going jets?

We heard them for the first month or so. Now I never do unless I'm outside. I love seeing the different planes that fly in and because the airforce share the airforce, we see the military jets. We've even seen them flying in formation. I love that. And with kids (and a mom) who are constantly coming and going through the airport, it's handy to have it so close.

We live about 15-20 minutes from the airport. That isn't saying much though since I can drive anywhere in Reno/Sparks in 35 minutes or less in decent traffic.

At one point our house was in the flight path. I think they might have changed it though because when I flew back from Vegas we did not fly over my house.

~~~~~~~~~
Even though I hated working so much overtime two weekends ago, I will admit that people were right that I would enjoy seeing the paycheck!
We had a bunch of overtime for this weekend too, but I didn't sign up for any. It prefer not to add on to my eight hour days unless I have to.
Saturday
Got up this morning a little after 11. Got ready and then left the house.
Matt took the Jeep to Wal*Mart so it could get new tires put on it.
I took Princess to get a shot at a low-cost shot clinic. When I got in there this lady looked at Princess and said, "Where did you get your dog?" I said, "The Humane Society." She said, "And how old is she?" I said, "A little over two." The lady went on and on about how she used to have a dog that looked exactly like Princess, and one day he got out and she never found him again. She said the only thing different is that dog would be quite old by now. She asked me several more times if I was sure Princess was only two. Yes, I got her as a puppy, so I do know how old she is.
Princess did well with her shot. She did try and get away from the thermometer, but she didn't even notice the shot. She was very happy to be fed a whole lot of Natural Balance roll pieces.
After that I picked up Matt from Wal*Mart and we had lunch at Macaroni Grill. I had eggplant Parmesan and he had pizza. I ordered a mocha. When I got the bill I was shocked at how much it was - I could have ordered a drink double the size from Starbucks for the same price. :O
After lunch we went back to Wal*Mart to pick up the Jeep. Matt took the truck home so he wouldn't have to move Princess and the crate, and I took the Jeep off to work.
Work was overall blah. Sometimes it was busy and sometimes we were in a long queue. The admins put a "no release" policy in place the other day. I really do not like it. I really hate not being able to disconnect prank callers. Some of them call and are just stupid for several minutes until they get tired and hang up. Some people call and curse at us. I have had more than one man call and speak perversely to me. We are supposed to say, "I do not appreciate being spoken to in that manner, and if you do not stop I will have to disconnect this call." Why do I have to say all of that? I have never once gotten a perverted caller who actually wanted to order.
I got off work 26 minutes early. Matt did not like the fact that I got home when his friend was still her because "this is the only night he has to see his friend." Then he said he did not want to talk to me until it was my normal getting home from work time. Matt did the same thing the other night when he was mad at me and I came home early - he told me I couldn't talk to him since I was still supposed to be at work. So stupid. I am at home, why should I pretend I am not? I certainly do not want to spend any extra time at work with prank callers I can't hang up on and my new supervisor I don't like and being bored.
Matt has suddenly got on this kick about why don't I clean the house. Believe me, Matt is not Mr. Clean or Mr. Organization or anything like that. I really have no motivation to clean. I am much more productive at night, and now I spend most every night either at work or at school. No one I care about ever comes over. And Matt does not keep his parts of the house any cleaner than the main area I am supposed to clean. Why is it only my fault that the house is not clean?
(yes, I do need to vent and I realize I am not speaking nicely about my husband).
--------------
So yesterday I went shopping with Josh's sister for a wedding dress. I found one! YAY!! It's fancier than I thought I was going to get, but I just loved it so much and it was so much cheaper than the dresses I was initially thinking about that I just had to get it. While we were shopping, Josh called me to tell me that his kids have lice!! YUCK!!!!!! They are at their mother's this weekend and she found it when decided to cut A's hair. SO ... he now has no hair at all. (Must be nice to be a boy) Josh is bald so we know he's clean. I'm clean too, I think. I've checked several times and with a fine toothed comb.
Why is so much expensive stuff of our dying?
Back in the days when Matt could spend 90% of his money on whatever he wanted, he bought a projector instead of buying a TV. When we got married the projector came over to this house, and I threw away the TV I used to have that hardly worked. So the projector was just about dead, so we bought a new 36" flat screen techie-great TV on clearance for like $500. Besides for it throwing my credit card repayment schedule out of balance, we have been enjoying out TV purchase.
Then there is Lappy Centrino. Matt's parents bought that for him when he first started going to college. During our honeymoon we spilled a bunch of hot Starbucks on the laptop, so the fact that it still worked after that is quite amazing. Well, lately it has very picky about whether or not it will recognize that it is plugged in. When I was in Vegas the original laptop cord stopped working. So I decided to order a universal power supply that made it work for a while. Now the laptop will not recognize the universal power supply either, and I don't know that it will ever turn on again.
What to do about the laptop? Do we replace it right away? I do not need a laptop of my own, but I do enjoy having one. We could replace it if we wanted to, but I would also like the money for other things like new clothes for vacation.
Then there is my truck. I am not sure how much longer that is going to last without some major repair work. Most every day the first time I turn it on it will be on for a few seconds and then die. Then it used to be that I would turn it back on and it would be fine. Then it started doing a lot of sputtering after its second turn on, but would start going soon. Now it is at the point where not only does it sputter when I pull out of the driveway, but when I have to stop at the first stop sign it nearly dies again and then I have to wait for it to sputter before it will run correctly.
In addition to the above problem, the windshield is cracked in several places, it leaks lots of oil, the transmission is picky about being in exactly the right place for both park and reverse, there is something wrong with the wiring where only one brake lights comes on, and Matt said only one of the wheels drives. We were hoping the truck would hold out until we were done paying off the credit cards ($5,200 more to go), but now we are just hoping it holds out until after we go on vacation.
*sigh*
Well, we decided to go ahead with a new laptop. Toshiba was having a good deal. It is temporarily on the credit card until we get paid next week.
So now I type to you from Lappy Sheeba. He is white (well, light gray really) and black. It is lighter than my old lappy. It came with Windows Vista, but I had Matt downgrade it to Windows XP. I think I will have to go back to Vista though because the scroll wheel doesn't work and neither do the F# keys. I hope this laptop and I will have a nice life together.
I like Vista. It just takes time to get used to it. And though people keep saying its got lots of problems, I haven't really found any. Besides, as they find fixes, the improvements are upgraded on your computer.
I haven't had any upgrades fix anything real yet. I've had a couple upgrades break things. My video upgrade caused it to shut down anytime more than 1 app was running. The soundcard update broke my sound. I had to downgrade both of those.
I'm waiting for the service pack to be released. Should be this month sometime I think. We'll see if my computer can stay connected to the internet long enough to download that file. (Not a fault of my computer ... that would be my router that's dying I think.)
I was reading an article at the New York Times on Microsoft and Vista, and how they claim there's no real problems with it. It took me almost an hour to read the responses, and 9 out of 10 of them (out of several hundred responses) HATED VISTA WITH A PASSION!
Did I happen to mention that I'm grateful for my Mac?
I did reup to Vista, but I changed it all back to Windows Classic Theme, so I don't notice nuch difference. Matt told me that whatever I turned off to have this theme "is one of the main reasons to have Vista." Owell. I like all the square looking stuff from Windows 95/98.
Tuesday seems to have become my busiest day. Yesterday I spent 4.5 hours at the appraisal place. After that I drove over to Matt's office. We went to a car wash, Target, and two video game places so he could buy a memory stick for his Xbox 360. Then we went to Sonic for a snack and then to our accounting class. After class we came home for a short bit, then we stopped by the place called BBQ House for some dinner, then we went and got my truck from where we left it (Matt's office), then we came home and finished the accounting project that was actually due on Sunday.
I went to bed at midnight, which is 2-4 hours early for me.
Today I plan to spend most the day doing homework. For my medical office class there is a six hour (or so) project we have to do. We were supposed to break it down and work on it 2-3 weeks, but I only did the first chapter so far. After I am done with that I need to do this week's accounting homework and quiz since I won't be home tomorrow. I might do some cleaning today. Matt is going to his friend's house after work so I can be alone to focus on homework.
I am almost half way done with my medical office computer project. It took me a long time to get started because the software does not agree with Vista. I am glad Matt's laptop still has XP. His laptop sometimes randomly shuts down though. It did that a little while ago, and when I got back to my program it gave me a pop-up explaining how to properly shut down the program .
Did you know that Sonic has happy hour? During 2-4 PM they give half off some of their drinks. I went and got a chocolate coke and cheddar peppers.
*sigh* - I so wish I had no more accounting homework to do. The only two chapters of this course I have really liked are the things they do at the end of the month/quarter/year and bookkeeping. The one I liked the very least was inventory systems. Now I know why I don't have any investments in things - I honestly don't care. Liquidity ratios and bonds and stocks and blah blah blah are not my cup of tea.
