Hi Kimmie. Thanks for your update on you and Andrew. I'm not so much into politics. We do get news over here though about what's happening with Obama, McCain and Palin.

I'm glad y'all liked the video :) Hi Maggie, Karlie, Trish, Kath, Sharon and Catherine :) I reactivated my gym membership this week and have begun to go again. I'm enjoying it. After work tomorrow I have to get home and make 3 different batches of mini muffins (I'll post the recipes later) for a women's coffee talk our women's ministry is having on Saturday morning. Afterwards Andrew and I will have Ariel and Eli for a few hours and will be taking them out to lunch and then to a police dog competition, or the zoo, or something else. They get to decide. Hmmmm...maybe a movie...I'll have to see what's playing these days.

Hiya Kimberly, I had a question for you. I heard on the radio last week that Sacramento has a really high crime rate, is that true?

Hi Mike and Catherine :) I did a little research on crime rates here, Mike, and I found this site: http://sacpd.org/annual_stats.asp Information isn't up yet for 2008, but crime went down in 2007 from 2006 Yearly Comparison 2006 31,677 2007 29,527 # Change -2,140 % Change -6.8% and if you go to this site, you can see how Sacramento ranks with other metropolitan areas: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2007/data/table_06.html it's not as bad as some cities, not as good as others.

If anyone is interested, I posted 3 absolutely wonderful muffin recipes on my blog, linked in my sig. The recipes are for Apple Cinnamon Chocolate Chunk Mini Muffins Brown Sugar Walnut Mini Muffins Peace Cobbler Mini Muffins (and these do taste just like a peach cobbler!) They were a hit at the coffee talk breakfast our women's ministry had this morning :)

Thanks for the links Kimberly! The actual per capita rate for crime is actually higher in Sacramento than it is in Greater Boston. I only thought of this because they mentioned the radio that they were going to be cutting the police force there.

Yeah, they are. It has to do with the budget. I can't believe how bad it is here, and I still can't believe that Arnold had state workers laid off while the legislature was delaying working out a budget. He should have cut the pay of the legislators until they got a budget together instead of punishing state workers for the stupidity of the legislators. This is what a liberal state government will get you....

Yeah Kimberly, they are liberal here too! There is an initiative on the ballot to cut the States income tax. I am sure that things would get really bad here too if that passes.

Actually, they want to elliminate the income tax, but if they do, then fees would very likely go up elsewhere instead! Also, thanks for posting the pictures too! Were they taken at the local zoo? It kinda reminds me when I went to the Zoo in St. Louis a few years ago.

Yep, the Sacramento Zoo :) It's a nice little zoo, right on the edge of William Land Park (wikipedia entry for William Land Park, yelp entry for WLP) We Sacramentans love our parks, especially this one :) The zoo is across the street from Fairytale Town, and Funderland isn't much further away. It's a great place to take kids. There are lakes and ducks, geese and squirrels, love rose gardens, lots and lots of green grass and big trees. It's what a park should be :)

It's very nice here, Mike :) I really like it and could live here the rest of my life. The only thing that would drive me out of Sacramento or the surrounding area would be increased taxes and unfriendly business environment. Or a clear leading from God :)

They say that Massachusetts is very unfriendly for business. One of these days I would like to move to a smaller, but active city to live in.

Smaller is nice :) You'd never know Sacramento was a city! That's why I like it so much :) I just posted a video on my blog of a young cowboy named Logan. He called a local radio station to share something God had shown him through a difficult situation and it's very touching. I think they said he lives in Nebraska :)
