I was wondering what Jesus meant in Luke 9:62.
I am afraid I may have done it as stated in my earlier post.

I deeply sympathize with your concern and want to commend you for having the courage to seek some understanding/help in spiritual matters.
First off, all Christians have turned away from God sometime in their walk with Him. Often daily. Look at St. Peter. He was bold in his proclamation that he would follow the Lord Jesus Christ anywhere, even unto death. However, the Lord revealed to him that he would deny Him 3 times. Or what about Jonah. God wanted him to go preach to the Ninevites but he refused. So God sent a whale to take him to those people anyway. And yet, Jonah still refused...and even sulked about it.
So, turning away is not uncommon, even for "saintly" biblical figures.
The next point is this: if you had fallen away from the grace of God, permanently, you wouldn't care. God, who lives in your heart, wouldn't be prompting you to seek some help/guidance with your fear. If God were no longer dealing with you, you wouldn't feel any fear....or care.
There were times, personally, where I felt that I was another Judas Iscariot. I grew deeply distraught and fearful of my salvation and nearly ended my life.
But God was merciful.
The "sin" of Judas was no different than St. Peter. The difference between Judas and St. Peter is that St. Peter believed that the Lord would take him back, in spite of his sin; Judas, on the other hand, did not.
Judas was not "locked out" from the grace of God....but he believed he was. Therefore, in despair, he ended his life. But God still loves Judas.
And that's what I hope that you meditate on: God's love for you; demonstrated by the fact that you are still living and breathing in this present age. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to say that God has given up on you or that you have no hope for salvation. God often uses our "fears" to prompt us to come back and enjoy Him.

I think you will find that the person who turns back, having once started on their journey are those who were never saved in the first place. The fact that you are worried about the issue would tell me that you have nothing to worry about.

Exactly what he said: now this was prior to the cross, where Jesus showed all men their depravity, that no one is worthy to enter into the kingdom. no one has fullfilled the law given through Moses. Not even Moses.
So it is by mercy from God the Father, no other way to enter heaven. So seek his mercy and thus see what Jesus's purpose here on earth was to do.
He said he came to fullfill the law and prophets, which he did, Matt 5:17. Then he went to the cross, bringing in a new covenant, through his death and three days dead was proof of that death. So that a new will could be in effect. Hebrewsw 9:15-22. So looking for help here it is Romans 5:10 since we through the cross have been reconciled (forgiven) how much more shall we be saved by his life. It is the ressurection that saves, not the death. the death was necessary to destroy the power of sin, thus afterwords bring in life.
Now this is not meant for us to take advantage of grace. It is meant for us to thank God for taking death out of the equation. For sin caused death period. and I would have to die every time I sinned, if God himself did not already deal with that at the cross.
So now When I do sin I can go to God in confidence (knowing Christ seperated sin and death) and say thank you for your Son at the cross. Now Father teach me how to say no to unrighteousness.
Now as you go through this world , you will learn from your mistakes, knowing Father personally, showing his mercy to others as he has shown you mercy through the cross.

Luke 9:62 takes place just prior to Jesus sending out the disciples two by two. What He is saying to them is that in order to stay focused on the task, He has set before them, they have to rid themselves of earthly concerns in order to accomplish it. It may mean you have to miss the burial of your father (Luke 9:59) or not be able to say goodbye to loved ones (Luke 9:61). Regardless of what it may be you can't stay focused on what the Lord wants to do through you if your mind is elsewhere. If you read into chapter 10 you will see this same theme emphasized in verse 4. "Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road." Again, Jesus is emphasizing to them not to worry or be concerned about anything because He will take care of them. All of this underscores the importance of being totally dependent on the Lord in our walk with Him. If we become too concerned with the cares of the world it it effects our ability to respond to His leading. As Christians, God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. This is so we would be totally focused on Him and not be distracted by the cares of this world.
