Part of this is due to Weird things we do with our food. What I'm wondering is this... anybody have any weird things they do with that little black tray once the food is gone? Can you collect them for prizes? I think it's a level 5 plastic that is not cheap for recycling. I should have something like clean paint brushes in them, but I don't know if turpentine would eat them or not. I just toss them in the trash. OneJohn410

I know what you mean, it's a dilemma. I usually just throw them in the trash and vow to cook my own meal next time so I don't have to buy a frozen dinner. We can only store so many unrecycleable plastic containers. I keep margarine tubs and have used some fairly strong solvents... it doesn't eat through the plastic. Those frozen meal trays seem a little flimsy for turpentine, though. Maybe you could use them for paint?

We used them for painting with the kids at the preschool I worked at over last summer and they work wonderfully! You can just throw them away after they are through if they are too messy to clean up and that way we could put different colored trays at the different tables, it worked really well! And I am sure that they would work for other types of paint too. We have also used them to sort out bead to make necklaces with, so you can see all the beads you have to work with...I have about a million ideas of what to do with them...I just can't think of them all at the moment!

Jesuschikc247, Awesome idea. I've got some teacher friends to mention this to. Probably some mom's-day-out finger painting sessions at the church 'school' would also love to have them. Grace-N-Mercy, also a good idea, especially for mixing just the right shade of paint needed. The black background color would not shine up through the paint, and the slick surface wouldn't draw the paint into it. thanks! OneJohn410

OneJohn410 - what a neat thread! I like this. I actually just throw away the black trays - but I like the idea of using them for painting or for sorting things. I like that a lot. I do keep the chinese food soup bowls. I use them as a container for my lunch.

Any of you guys ever used margarine tubs as lunch container and actually taking real margine with your for lunch. NOt a fun thing! I don't keep them anymore. I have no clue what to do about those black frozen entrees containers. I don't buy them. I'm sure if you surf the net, there'd be tonnes of ideas out there.
