A member of an organization or group just looks for attention, is always depressed and her life is always miserable, and people try to help, but she never does anything but complain, so you leave her alone. well some longtime members leave and some new ones join and the complainer targets those people for attention and pity. if I warn the new member of complainer and her modus operandi, am I gossipping, or should I just let new members find out for themselves?

Well, if it's really that bad, I guess the new members will find out for themselves..........and handle it the way they think they should.

I would not 'warn' anybody. Maybe she just needs to meet the right person to talk to and pray with about her probs and depression? I am just a little puzzled as to what you mean by 'modus operandi" - I understand the term, I just don't get it's application here.

I don't know if it's gossip, but I think it might be hurtful if you "warned" people and she found out.

I would take this as to whoever is in charge and let them know how her behavior is affecting everybody and let them take care of it. The new members will eventually find out for themselves, so there is no need to tell them.

Gossip? possibly, but for sure backbiting.

When one speaks of a brother or sister and it is not edifying to that person and the one being spoken to; it should not be said.

If the person is question is causing that much division in the body, the Pastor or some of the other leadership should handle the situation.

The person sounds to me like they are really hurting and need some major ministry and consel.
