I cannot find the answer to this on the iTunes site--forgive me if it is stupid.

If you lose your iPod and replace it, it *is* okay to use your iTunes library on the new iPod--right?

I am pretty sure our iPod is history. I cannot find it since we returned from our last trip, so I will be buying a new one tomorrow. They no longer offer the one we had, so it will be an upgrade.

I am sure this has happened before, but since the iTunes site "knew" my iPod, I need to make sure it is okay to hook up a new one to the same account.

Has anyone bought a new one that can tell me for sure if it works?

(And no, my brain is *not* functioning normally right now, thank you very much )

I still would like to know the answer to the basic question, but I am happy to report that God showed me where I had put the iPod, so it is not something I am needing to know right this minute

Glad you found it...however, to answer your question, yes, it's fine to use a new iPod on your computer. The user license for ITunes store downloaded content is for 5 computers.

We've replaced all of our iPods (all upgrades - a very old mini to classic, two first gen shuffles to nanos, first gen nano to iTouch) in the last 8 months, and the transition was smooth.

In fact, I just discovered recently that recent versions of iTunes on Macs (I don't think you can do this on Windows, but someone correct me if I'm wrong), you can have multiple iPods linking to an iTunes library (a big relief because I'd basically set up my husband as another user on my Mac and kept having to update his iTunes library - now I just have one library and don't have to update another one). iTunes remembers each iPod and which playlists, podcasts, etc. you're downloading to that iPod.

Yes you just plug the new one in and it recognizes the new one. My new one is red and now Itunes shows the picture of your ipod when you plug it in. LOL.

How did God tell you?

Short answer: He told me to pick up my suitcase. I had checked the suitcase, opening all the little zippered compartments and finding nothing. After I had found the best price on a new iPod and resigned myself to the fact that it had to be replaced (it was Himself's birthday present a couple of years ago) I was walking past the closet and He told me to pick the suitcase up and put it on the bed. When I did, there was the iPod on the floor, under the suitcase.

Thanks, SoG and Jill! That is exactly the information I wanted to know

Hehe. God once told me where to find my lost cell phone. I dreamt about looking for it, but in the dream I actually found it. When I woke up, I looked in the same place(also a suitcase...weird) and there it was.

To answer your question, yes, you can always hook a new iPod to the library. Especially if the majority of the music was from CD's(like ours are).

Couldn't you have just had someone call it?

Or was it turned off?
