Insight Versus Wisdom - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of April 7

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

Insight Versus Wisdom

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs – he wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying for the Lord will give you insight (understanding) into all this.

2 Timothy 2:1-7

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Psalm 111:10

Defined by Webster:

Discover: obtain the first sight or knowledge: find out

Discern: to discover with the eyes or the mind.

Knowledge:understanding gained by experience; range of information

Wisdom: accumulated learning

Insight: understanding

Get wisdom, discipline (training)and understanding.

Proverbs 23:23

When one finds something out, they discern it/discover it. Knowledge is understanding gained by experience; their range of information that they know is based on their experiences. Wisdom is an accumulation of that knowledge that they have learned. And learning to fear (be in awe) of the Lord is the first step in being able to accumulate learning (wisdom). The more one disciplines themselves/trains in the Word, increasing knowledge through the continual exposure in the Word, and learns with this mind-set, the more one possess wisdom and thereby receives increased insight, which translates to increased understanding.

The more one does all of this, the more wise they become.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge(range of information, depth of understanding that leads to wisdom: accumulated learning)and depth of insight,(understanding)so that you may be able to discern(discover)what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11

Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.

Proverbs 4:7
