A Red Flower - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of April 5

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

A RED FLOWER SMILING AT ME ALL BY ITSELF

I looked out the kitchen window on a day in which I was feeling particularly heavy in spirit. I prayed and asked God to exchange my baggage for His love, for a sense of renewal in me. I still felt the same. I was being obedient and “doing as I knew to do: going to God with it,” but I still “felt” rather heavy. “Help me, Lord, look to you and be light in heart. I am casting it all on You because I know You care, and because only You can take care of what is sitting on my shoulders and heart. As I approached the kitchen sink, a speck of red caught my eye in the backyard. It was a single red flower, the only one, surrounded by green. Not a single other flower provided company for it. I smiled. I believe the flower was smiling at me. Okay, maybe not the flower, but God was smiling at me. He heard my prayer, and that one red flower reminded me that Christ would have died for only one person. Immediately, I felt lighter; I was reminded that He hears every prayer that we pray, and He truly does care about every little thing. He wants us to look to Him, and He wants us to look for Him because He truly is all around us. I encourage you to intimately involve Him in your day to day.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
