A New Covenant
But you have come to Mt. Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
Whatever laws of sin you feel you have been chained to, turn them over to God. Whatever tightly locked circumstances you feel you have been prisoner to, turn them over to God. Whatever defeat you have suffered, whatever has been taken, whatever has been lost, turn it all over to God. We can approach God because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Jesus died so that we may have eternal life. While on this earth, we are to live in victory by turning all things over to God. To not do so would be to dismiss the magnitude of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and the magnitude of God’s grace (which is a gift freely given).
Let’s consider that your child has soccer practice. You are a mom and you have a car; you fully intend to bring them to soccer practice. But your child says, “No! I’ll walk.” You would be perplexed would you not? It wouldn’t make sense for your child to walk to soccer practice. Besides, they would never get there, let alone get there on time, nor would they be safe walking that far, on those busy roads, by themselves. You are their mom, you don’t question whether you will drive them; it’s a given. Therefore, as God’s children, why do we sometimes demand to walk in worry and regret when He has a better way for us? Before Christ, we were bound by laws. Because Christ came, we are recipients of His grace (which is a gift).
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he proposed in Christ to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment – to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.
Today, all this week, and beyond, I pray that you will walk in the knowledge that He will work out everything in the conformity of the purpose of His will. Warriors, Trust! In His grace, He has provided a new covenant of love through Christ.
