Girlfriends in God is a non-denominational ministry that crosses generational and racial boundaries to bring the Body of Christ together as believers. Just as God sent Ruth to Naomi and Mary to Elizabeth, God continues to use women to encourage and equip other women in their spiritual journey. We are doing life together! The Girlfriends in God Daily Devotional is our popular daily Bible devotion for women. GIG Devotionals for Women offer wisdom and insight for applying Biblical truths to the ups and downs of everyday life. Reading daily devotions provides strength and encouragement in your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
Grace, Grace, Grace
“Receive and experience the amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, deep, deep within yourselves.” Philippians (MSG)
Friend to Friend
You know how a good make up foundation can take you from ‘okay’ to ‘porcelain goddess’ with just a few wipes of a sponge? It’s amazing. Well, in the music industry, that process is called ‘pitch correction.’ Once a singer lays their vocal tracks for a CD, it is not uncommon for all vocals to be run through the pitch correcting software during the production phase of recording. Like good foundation gives a face the illusion of flawlessness, pitch correction can give a vocal track perfect pitch. It is a wonderful polishing tool that makes the music we hear more palatable and pleasant.
Don’t you wish we had foundation and pitch correction for all of our blemishes in life? Like the times we say things we regret – or use a tone that’s far from kind – or make a comment we shouldn’t have made – or think and inappropriate thought – or act selfishly? Don’t you wish we could make the music of our mistakes sound sweeter and be made perfect? Me too. The simple fact is – we can’t…but GOD can! God’s grace isn’t bound by limits and it certainly won’t be withheld from any heart that seeks Him sincerely. God can run the sour notes of our conversations, thoughts and behaviors through His holy pitch correction called grace.
“…But sin didn’t, and doesn’t, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down.” Romans 5:20 (MSG)
God extends grace to his children because He loves us. His love is deeper, wider and higher than we can ever imagine. Like the Energizer Bunny, God’s grace keeps going and going and going…eternally…and that truly is amazing! So, the next time you apply your foundation or sing a little off key…take a moment to pause and thank God for the grace that He lavishes on us generously!
Dear Lord, Your grace is surely so much more amazing than I know. Words cannot begin to express the depth of my gratitude for Your mercies that cover my shame. Please forgive me right now for ________. Help me to become more like you each day and please use me for Your glory. Amen.
Now it’s your turn
Make a joyful noise today! Sing Amazing Grace and celebrate God’s goodness.
Consider what ‘blemishes’ you have in your life right now and pray that God would remove them.
Is there grace that you need to extend to somebody else? Act on this as soon as you can!
