Who am I? Whose am I? - Encouragement Café - August 5, 2015

Who am I?  Whose am I?

Café Menu for Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Today’s Special is:  I am…

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Susan B. Mead

Main Ingredient:

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

John 1:12 NIV

Have you ever wondered who you are and why you are here?  Me too…

As you were growing up and figuring life out, did you listen to the world or the Word of God to define yourself?  Or even as an adult did you lose sight of your true self?

Yea, me too again…  Too many times, I listened to the world instead of choosing The Word of God.  And oh, how that took me on a detour… or two.  Can you relate?

Along the way, I forgot that He gave me the right to become a child of God.  That’s what the Bible says-literally!  So was I going to choose to believe The Word of God or not?  How about you?  From time to time, have you forgotten Whose you are?

Are you ready to know and to come HOME where you belong?  (Oh, by the way, unpack when you get there this time… you want to S T A Y!)

I love seeing God paint a vivid picture of who we are in Him through His Word:

  • Heirs of God

  • Co-heirs with Jesus Christ

  • Share in His Sufferings

  • Share in His Glory

For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you.

1 Thessalonians 1:4 NIV

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Romans 8:17 NIV

YES!  I want what He is telling me is mine… already mine.  And it’s already yours too.  Do you want to receive what God has prepared specifically for you?

Take Out:

  • State “I am a child of God.”

  • Now, look in the mirror and state “I am a child of God.”

  • Write “I am a child of God” on a post-it note to put on your mirror or your fridge.  Yes, you are making a BOLD statement of belief.  GO FOR IT!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for opening my eyes to You as my Father, to Jesus as my Big Brother [co-heir with Christ] and to my inheritance that is waiting for me as Your child.  Indeed, I am a child of God.  Yes, I want to share in His Glory!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
