The Truth Shall Make You Free
Café Menu for Friday, July 25, 2014
Today’s Special is: The Greatest Freedom
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32 NKJV
If you are a Christian, you have the greatest freedom possible. You are free from sin, free from death, and free from condemnation. Jesus Christ is the truth (John 14:6), and when a person knows Him as their personal Lord and Savior, He has made them free.
We are no longer slaves to sin.
“… Our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin”
Romans 6:6 NKJV
Although we are new creations, we still live in our sinful human flesh which causes us to stumble. However, we are no longer bound to sin. We are able to live holy lives because we have the Holy Spirit living in us, guiding and directing us.
We are free from death. Yes, our human bodies will die one day, unless Jesus Christ returns before that time. We just pass from this life to our eternal life. We will not experience the second death that unbelievers will endure. Believers will
“not perish but have everlasting life”
John 3:16b NKJV
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus”
Romans 8:1a NKJV
Jesus Christ loved us so much that He came to this earth, born of a virgin, to die in our place. He led a perfect, sinless life – fully God and fully man. He was the only One who could be our substitute. When we cry out to God for salvation, and we turn from our sin, we are no longer guilty before God.
Christian, thank God for the greatest freedom that you could know. We may be persecuted, imprisoned, or even have our Bibles taken from us, but no one can ever take away our Savior and Redeemer.
If you have doubts about your salvation, ask God to save you right now. Salvation is not about church membership or good works. If you are saved, you will see a definite change in your life. If you do not see that change, there is no better time to get right with God than this very moment.
Dear God, thank You for freeing me from sin, death, and hell. Please reach the unsaved that they would call on You for salvation, asking for forgiveness, and giving their lives to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
