Rejection is Painful

Today’s Special is: You Are Not Standing Alone
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Jamy Whitaker
For the LORD will not reject his people…
– Psalm 94:14a NIV
As adults, we no longer send the cute little notes, “Do you like me? Check yes or no.” However, that does not mean that we do not have to deal with rejection. In fact, if anything, it attacks adults more times and in more ways. Rejection can come in several different forms – passed up for a promotion, friend turned his/her back on you, love not returned. The pain of rejection is real, but do not lose heart.
Christ is all too familiar with your pain. He walked on earth and was rejected by His hometown, siblings, church officials and the nation. The Bible tells us that we will have trials and troubles in this life. It is not a matter of if, but rather when. We can’t begin to think that we will not face rejection. Christ did.
However, we must keep in mind that not every rejection that comes our way is a bad thing. Sometimes God doesn’t allow a situation to transpire because He has something better in mind for us. So when rejection hits you square in the face, stop and step back and get a better perspective on the situation.
No matter what rejection we are currently facing, God will not reject us no matter what we have done or how far we have strayed. He will always welcome us with open arms.
Therefore, make certain that the pain of rejection doesn’t get you off track or pull you into a pit of defeat and despair. Remember that you are performing for an audience of One.
Think about the last time you were rejected and think of a positive outcome of that situation.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You today hurting. You know the pain of being rejected. It is not fair. I don’t understand why this is happening, but I am going to choose to trust You through this storm. I do not need to understand all the reasons behind what happens in my life. I know that You love, welcome and accept me. You will never leave or forsake me. I rest in that knowledge today. I ask that You give me the comfort, strength and peace that I need to get through this hurt. Thank You for loving me when everything else seems to be falling apart around me. In Your Precious Name, Amen.
