Today's Special is: Finding Your True Love... Again

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Royale Rose

Main Ingredient:

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Revelation 2:1-5 KJV

Entree:

Read verse 4 again - “You have forsaken the love you had at first.”

When I think of my first true love, I think of Jesus. (Remember I said TRUE love). There is no love more pure and true. The Pastor spoke of churches falling apart because they lost sight of their first true love, Christ. I began to think of how at times, many times, we can begin to feel so distant from Christ. Is that because we have lost sight?

I remember when I first really gave my life to Christ. I prayed all the time, read the Bible, and walked so close to his Word. Then came a plateau (that's what I call it). I felt distant from Christ, like He was no longer by my side. When I look back, I realize it was kind of like our human relationships. I got comfortable. I put a halt on the closeness I had with Christ. I stopped reading on a regular basis and began conforming to the world and its ways.

Ever feel this distance?

Reading this Scripture I realize getting close to Christ again is so easy. Well, first we are really never distant. He is always by our side. To get the excitement and the joy that being close to Christ brings, we must go back to the basics. We must go back to the times when we put Him first; when walking and talking with Him along with studying His Word was a top priority in our life.

Take Out:

Repent and do the things you did at first.

Remember, Repent, and Repeat

·         Remember what used to be

·         Repent for falling away

·         Repeat the things you did in the beginning

Dessert:

Dear Jesus, forgive us for the times that we put distance between us, the times that we run away from Your love and then we wonder where You are. We know You are there. Your Word says You will never leave or forsake us and we know Your Word is full of true promises. Forgive us for the times we forget. I want to be close to You as I sit here in the stillness and quiet. Have Your presence fall over us and hold us close. Thank You so much, Jesus, for the one true love that can only be found in You, Amen!
