"Believe" Is My Word

Café Menu for Friday, January 15, 2016

Today’s Special is:  Help My Unbelief

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell

Main Ingredient:

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Mark 11:24 NKJV

Entrée:

“Believe” is my word for this season of life, and Mark 11:24 is the promise I claim.

I had lost most of my vision.  Everything appeared as if it were surrounded by a dense fog.  I saw a new ophthalmologist, who could not offer any hope for the main cause of my blindness.  However, she could remove my cataracts and the haze which they created.

Until then, I thought God’s plan was to use me as the blind author encouraging others.  Now God was teaching me to believe my vision would greatly improve.  The first thought my mind raced to was doubt.

What if it isn’t better after surgery?

I refused to answer the question.  Believing means facing all doubts and telling them they are no longer welcomed.

After surgery, God has opened my eyes to a beautiful world.  He has taken me to deeper levels of trusting Him.  Now I am believing for complete healing.

These words of Christ were not only true for His day.  The Lord’s half-brother, James, says to the New Testament church:

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

James 1:6 NKJV

Believing makes the impossible possible and the hopeless hopeful.

Friend, I want to encourage you to believe for your miracle, whatever it is.  I cannot promise you anything, but to say God is more than faithful.  It will not be easy.  The enemy will plant doubt.

Many people will discourage you, but there are those who say, “I believe it too.”  Those sweet words kept me going.   Like the desperate father who brought his demon possessed child to Jesus, we must say,

Lord, I believe; Help my unbelief!

Mark 9:24 NKJV

Take Out:

We all have imperfect faith because we all live in imperfect flesh.  Let’s commit to pray, asking God to help our unbelief.  Today, what can you believe God is going to do in your life?

Dessert:

Heavenly Father,

As much as I trust You, I know there are doubts hindering my faith.  Lord, I want You to chase those doubts away.  Today, I choose to believe for a miracle which I know You will accomplish in Your precious time.  Thank You for increasing faith and what You will do in my life for Your glory.  In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
