God Sized Dreams

Originally published Tuesday, 09 April 2013.

I know that God has BIG dreams for you and for me.

When I was in my early 20′s, I had a dream about my future.

I couldn’t wait for this dream to come true.

I became very frustrated when the years 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 went by with no hope of a future husband in sight. I started to wonder if I had heard God wrong.

It was during this time of waiting, a co-worker said this to me:

“God wants to birth a ministry through you–if you’ll let him–not to say your future husband isn’t important.”

What do you mean my future husband isn’t important?

I believe now more than ever–God wants to give you big dreams. It might be a fight, you might fail, or the dream might die.

DON'T.
GIVE.
UP.

I'm going to share with you something very personal. Listen up! Last week, I got a letter from my publisher saying my last book, Not Another Dating Book, hasn't sold well. In fact, it's done so poorly they are taking it out of print and trying to sell off the remaining copies.

What the? When I think of that I'm super disappointed because of all the hard work I put into writing, sharing, and marketing my bitterness of being single.

BUT.
GUESS.
WHAT?

God didn't let me remain bitter or single. When I look at all the heartbreak I had to go through to get to that point in my life where I could finally be honest with God and others about how bitter I truly was--that is when He brought Marc into my life.

So to me, that book is what changed my life. I know as a "published" author you have to care about numbers, but I know how much God changed my life--and those who have read it and written to tell me. So I can't help but say thank you God!

Be encouraged. If you feel your dreams are dead, you're not content, you're waiting or feeling frustrated--that is when I feel like God comes bursting in!!!!

We just celebrated Easter, and when Jesus appeared to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, Jesus encouraged them. He literally walked with them and explained to them--even though they had already given up all hope (Luke 24:21).

I.
LOVE.
THIS.

Even when we're completely out of hope, God still shows up and walks with us. The disciples needed to know that they had missed Jesus' words, and everything the prophets said about a suffering Messiah.

Maybe like those two disciples, you were looking for a King and instead all you see is the death of a dream.

OUCH.
OUCH.
OUCH.

I'll stop preaching now, but I just wanted you to know (and give you BIG HUGS) that God cares. He sees you. He knows. Don't let go of your dreams, even when you feel they've been crucified.

That's exactly where God has been and He knows how to take it from there.

Speaking of dreams...

I'm still buzzing from a dream of mine to create an event for 20/30-somethings called Quarter Life Conference. Our first online conference was a HIT. We had over 600 people sign up and 400 people watch Dr. Gary Chapman, Bill and Pam Farrel, and many others LIVE.

I finally was able to get the links archived and on the site this evening.

If you missed the event, you can watch it at your convenience below:
