Speak Life: The Power of Words

Words are pretty powerful. They can either be hurtful or helpful. Ephesians 4:29 says, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." (NIV) Let you words be beneficial and impactful. And Proverbs 12:18 tells us, “Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.” (NLT) So let’s be wise women, consider our words before they cut others, and learn to truly speak life.

Now, let me ask you a question. Have you ever had someone speak a word of life to you at just the right time? If so, how did it make you feel? I'm sure that felt great! There's nothing like it. This week, I want you to think about encouraging someone.

What I mean by that is...let your words breathe life into someone's life at just the right time. Be open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit when He quickens you to do it. Just get ready - because you never know when God may place someone in your path who may need help when he or she is down in spirit, depressed, lonely, hurt, broken, or just going through a tough time in life. Be there.

And when that moment arrives, ask the Lord to give you right words of encouragement to say, and a prayer that will be helpful to them as well. Ultimately, He knows exactly how to use you to give a good word in due season that will bring joy to someone’s soul. Proverbs 15:23 says, “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” (KJV)

It’s GOOD to encourage someone! Actually, when you do this, you’re also showing that person the goodness of the Lord. And that my sister, is character in action! (See Galatians 5:22-23) So look for opportunities to be a blessing and encourage someone. You can do it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, through an email, over the phone, or face-to-face. Just speak life sis! ;-)

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
