With the approach of the Beijing Olympics, people will focus more and more on the Olympic events. Whether Dalai be left out after the Olympics is no longer a question. What the westeners think highly of are not only China's economic power , but also China's political and diplomatic power. On the one side is China, on the other side is Dalai. It is doughtless which one is much more important in the heart of the Westeners.

Therefore, if Dalai continues to give political performances on the international stage while China shows goodwill to him, it means he himself gives up these opportunities.

We all clear about how much sincerity with what Dalai has said, including those Good words. If Dalai really cherish the opportunity, he will make up his mind, and reply the Central government's goodwill with concrete actions. What's more, this kind of actions should solve real problems. Only in this way can the Central government dispel the distrust and wariness on him. While in those days, the distrust and wariness were much heavier because of the political and international shows of Dalai. If Dalai misunderstands the support from the Westen countries, asks for a sky-high price, and even connive at exile tibetans's voilence and behaviers which enraged the central government, it will only futher worsen the relations with the central government, and even let the central government make the final desicion to abandon him. This is not impossible.

The Dalai had a lot of press time before China got nominated to host the Olympics, and I assume that he will continue to have the opportunity to speak for his country, his people and his beliefs after the olympics are long over.

But I certainly join RC in praying that he will renounce his pagan ways and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In the long run that will prove a greater benefit, especially if he then uses his own example to encourage the people of Tibet to follow him in accepting Christ as they followed him in pagan practices.

The Dalai lama may be an unbeliever but he is certainly a man interested in the truth and justice. The continued occupation, material rape and torture of Tibet is in anyones opinion an arrogant offense if not an unholy one. Chinas refussal to listen to sense must be meet with a better response than hailing her as a new world leader for she only doubles her efforts to support similair despotic governments around the world knowing full well that she will not have to answer for her crimes against humanity until the others have been first dealt with.

When a Chinese government official can say that any who dare oppose the governmenton any issue will be dealt with serverly then we find we are dealing with the demonic that all truth and freedom loving people everywhere should condemn. Love the Chinese people hate nationalistic demonism. The chinese government will fall for the forces of her destruction are the seeds of the disconsent she herself has sown and they are at her doors and within her halls.

At least I believe the Dalia Lama would be open to western missionaries in his country.

Perhaps the OP will let us know if there is something he wishes to discuss or if he is just making a statement.
