I'll admit it—there are days when if I were to write an article called "Why Being Single Stinks," it would fill volumes. Days when the entire congregation at my church seems made of happy couples and their charming children—while I sit in my pew alone.

Great post Virtious...It reminds me of the scripture which states "godliness with contentment is great gain." So many of us think we have to be married to be content so we miss out on the many great things that being single has to offer. I am going to learn and grow as much as I can in this season so that if/when that time comes again, I'll be in the best position to be a great husband.

Argh! Sometimes I wish I didn't have as many male friends as I do - because of working my fields, that's the majority of what I've had - and most of them are all married too. I am thankful for my newer female friends.
I love being single, however, I do desire to be married sooner than later. But seeing that I've been single for over 47 years might have something to do with that desire.
Why is it so great? I get to do things like today - spending time with my best friend - time I probably wouldn't have if I was married.
For me - I am able to be with my family in their final days. That's what is important to me. Being married, I'd not be able to be here.

How interesting! I have been single my whole life and that is a long time! Mostly I have always liked being on my own but sometimes I would like a heartbeat to share--like at the death of my parents and most especially at the death of my brother. And at happy times too--when something wonderful happens or when I learn some new fascinating remarkable thing.
There was a time when I knew if I were to have children some decisions would have to be made. That was a difficult time and though I think a child or two would have been wonderful I am ok with not having that blessing-there have been so many others.

Some great things about being single-don't have to cook unless you want to, cereal for supper is ok-you control the remote at all times, can accept (or not) any invitation, on a day off you can stay in your pj's all day or sleep all day, you can eat ice cream right from the carton--I could go on but you get the drift.

That's so true. Singleness is an exciting ride. Marriage is an exciting ride. Two, totally different rides, mind you, but definitely exciting. But what the Holy Spirit has been pointing out to me is that life in Christ is the ride of my lifetime and for all eternity, not my marital status.
