Victory over sex sin - 4/16/2008 7:49:46 AM

I love the Lord so when He started speaking to me about my besetting sin I knew I had a struggle on my hands, it was a choice between having a close walk with Him or my pet sin, although I would still be saved.
There was a song in my head, one of the oldies choruses, the tune was awful but the words were pure diamond, I knew it was God's key for victory so I started singing, it goes like this.
I have been crucified, crucified with Christ
and I live no longer I but Christ lives in me
and the life that I now live, I live by the faith
by the faith of the Son of God
Who loved me, Who loved me
and gave Himself for me.
I will not say that victory was at all immediate, I kept falling, but I'd get up and dust myself off and start singing, over and over, and I got victory, I got free praise God, through a song? nah, through the mighty power that is in God's word.

That's wonderful news, Thankdaisy! I, too, went through a tough time where a song really helped focus me, just like you. "Lord of the Troubled Sea" (You are my all in all) was the title.

The psalms speak of being surrounded by songs of deliverance. Amen. Thank you, both of you, for sharing your experiences with this reality! God is soooooooooo good and good to us indeed.
I've had similar experiences and those songs of deliverance hold a special place in my heart as well! Jesus knows what we need when we need it. And He does ALL for us. Bless the name of Jesus.

God centered lyrics are a blessing from our Lord. These particular lyrics deserve equally wonderful music. Let's pray that someone might see that that can create some music that is equally God glorying.  Dying to 'Self' is not a widely understood doctrine these days. But, it truly is the way to victory over sin.

Very good cause until i get married i think i will think about it from time to time but not focus on it but try to stay focused on GOD!!! because it is only human to want to. When it does cross my mind i think about it for the moment and then put it away, to think about it make me feel "normal" or "sane" it keeps me grounded if that makes any sense (trying not to be to selfrightous) cause I know at any moment I could fall. I've heard many songs come in and out of my head and only the fear of the Lord keeps me from sinning that sin.

It is exactly why St Paul tells us to sing and make melody in our hearts. Be not filled with win which is debauchery but be filled with Spirit singing psalms and hymns and spirtual songs. Trust the Lord to make a joy of everything.

i have a burning question to ask:
if one had already fornicated with a bf/gf but knows that he/she is not the right one, is it right to break up? or must it be that whoever you lost your virginity to should rightfully become your husband/wife?
very confused. made an extremely hard decision to break up and feel God's peace, but people tell me that when 2 has become 1 flesh God will not want the 2 to separate.
