Under my profile settings I have automatic subscription to threads I reply to. I also have it set so that I should get email notifications any time there's a new message - initially it was just 'after new posts until I visit the forum again', but that wasn't working. The new setting didn't work either. After checking around through settings and the site, I found that the threads I'd subscribed to had two columns next to them: the left had "subscribe", and the right was "mail". Checking "mail" didn't seem to have any effect, but I'm not sure what the difference is. The thing that confuses me is that if there is a new post in a thread I've subscribed, even if the email is lost, shouldn't I get "next subscribed thread" up at the top of the screen? I've heard other members refer to something up there, but I've never seen it despite the fact that I know there are new posts to threads I've subscribed to. This makes it more aggravating to keep track of the threads I'm trying to stay aware of. I'm not sure what the flaw is, but should the "mail" option alone disable all of these things, and if I've got the setting to get email notification shouldn't I get it by default?

I bookmarked "http://forums.crossdaily.com/" to log into the forums, and I browse using FireFox 2.0.0.14. I've now started to get emails notifying me of thread updates, and they don't always go through identical sites. I find that odd, I'd expected the forums to be on a specific and independent site, though the banners change and seem to indicate a different host. I'm not sure yet if logging in through an email URL or through the bookmarked URL makes any difference. If it would help I can start logging what I think is the forum host showing at the banner at the top of the page. Even when I log in through the CrossDaily bookmark, it doesn't always stay http://forums.crossdaily.com. Right now it says "http://faithcommunitynetwork.com/m_3386731/mpage_1/tm.htm#3393854". I've also seen "Next Unread Subscription" (twice), though I don't always see that and sometimes it brings me to threads I've just updated. I'm not concerned about it directing me to threads I just posted on, I'm just befuddled as to why it doesn't always appear.

This whole forum is actually one gigantic forum used by over 40 sites. When someone posts the email notification you get is sent and the link included reflects the site the person who posted logged in through. The only way to get around that is to use the PM notification instead. Learn more about that here: Click Here

Ganheim - what you can do is, instead of clicking on the link in the email, copy over the last part of the address and paste that into your forum address. Example: You get the notification that goes to http://faithcommunitynetwork.com/m_3386731/mpage_1/tm.htm#3393854 1. Copy (highlight and Control-C) the last part after the .com: /m_3386731/mpage_1/tm.htm#3393854 2. Go to a browser window where you've got http://forums.crossdaily.com open 3. Paste what you copied to the end of that: http://forums.crossdaily.com/m_3386731/mpage_1/tm.htm#3393854 Voila - you're on the thread/post in the CrossDaily forums! One of the minor frustrations with having so many web sites going to the same forums is that, when you're on a different portal from the one you're logged into (such as ibelieve.com or faithcommunitynetwork.com instead of crossdaily.com), you're not logged in anymore. So then your subscriptions, etc. won't show up. But if you change the portal over to the one you're signed into (crossdaily.com in your case), then you'll be signed in. Hope this helps!

The email notifications seem to be working normally now, which I'm thankful for. The strange thing is, I'm still not getting the "Next Unread Subscription" whatever site I log into the forums from. The portal doesn't appear to affect this, though now that I'm starting to think of the portals it's possible that maybe the site just isn't setting up the "next unread subscription" unless both I and the post updater are logged in through the same portal. This isn't a damaging occurance, I'm just befuddled by the lack of apparent consistency. Thanks for the help so far.
