I recently bought and installed a Lexmark X125 All-In-One printer/fax/copier/scanner and it was working fine until one day when I mistakenly selected Shutdown from the properties menu on the icon in the system tray. I thought this would just turn the machine off, but then I started having problems with printing from the computer. I read the troubleshooting section and tried reinstalling the software, but then I saw that I had duplicate printers in the Printers/Faxes directory, so I uninstalled everything. Since then I've tried several times to reinstall the software, but it's just not working -- there's no program listed in the Start menu bar, no icon in the system tray, and no printer listed in Printers/Faxes.
I contacted Lexmark tech support and they suggested restarting the print spooler, which I did, and then to reset the LexBce server. I discovered that LexBce server wasn't listed as a dependency in the Print Spooler dependencies list, and was told I needed to contact my PC vendor. I then went and searched for LexBce server on the Microsoft site and learned that it's a third-party application installed with Lexmark printer software.
I am so frustrated at this point I could pull my hair out. I figure if I contacted Dell or Microsoft at this point, they'd just tell me it's a problem with the Lexmark printer software. Can anybody PLEASE PLEASE help me?

I used to have all in one Lexmark printer and I hated it very much because it wouldn't start if I forget to switch that on AFTER I've switched on my PC and started to work on it.

I had recently got second hand Epson printer from my mother and it acted much, much better.

What operating system are you using?

If it's Windows XP try hitting start, run, services.msc

go to print spooler and make sure it is active (right click it and hit start if it's not active).

Look for other services (ie: Lexmark?) that might need to be activated.

The Lexmark support person told me to restart the print spooler, which I did, but it didn't seem to help. The problem is apparently that the LexBce server isn't there under the print spooler dependencies when it's supposed to be, and trying to reinstall the printer software doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm running Windows XP.

Did you download and install the latest drivers for your printer from their website?

If you can't fix the problem during the time you are allowed to take it back, be sure to take it back.

I don't know, you could ask them. Letting them know could help improve their tech support the next time someone has a problem.

BTW, be sure to burn the latest installation file(s) for the drivers of that printer onto a CD and don't lose that CD. One day you may need to re - install your operating system and you'll need those drivers and it could be the case that Lexmark may no longer have those files on their website anymore. You may also want to download drivers for other operating systems in case you ever choose to change (ie: upgrade) your operating system (ie: if you get a new computer with a newer operating system). You should ask Lexmark if they'll give you a free CD with the latest drivers.

I have a suspicion they're supposed to help a certain number of people within a certain amount of time, so they thought I was taking up too much of their time. When they found out I didn't have the LexBce server in the print spooler dependencies, that's when they tried to shuffle me off by telling me to contact my PC vendor, even though LexBce server is LEXMARK software, not Microsoft or Dell. I may go back to their website and see if they have a way to offer feedback.
