Okay ladies. I did a bit of research, and if any of ya'll are interested in converging in Atlanta, then here's some suggestions. If anyone has a different proposal, I'm totally cool with that; I just though I'd put some stuff out there. My gut feeling is that the Children's Museum of Atlanta might be the best option. Let me know what you think. Potential CW ladies Atlanta meeting Sites: Atlanta Zoo (Adults $18, Children 3-11 $13, Military $14) Pros: Lots of cool animals (more active in the Fall); Basically kid friendly (bring a stroller for little ones) Cons: Could be rained out Georgia Aquarium (Adults $26.00, Children 3-12 $19.50) Pros: Lots of cool animals Kid friendly with petting area and play ground Rain-safe Cons: Expensive and tickets must be purchased ahead of time Can be very crowded, even during weekday Children’s Museum of Atlanta (All people 2 and older are $11 – Discounts for groups of 10 or more!) Pros: Cheaper then other options Very kid friendly, even for littles there is plenty to do Rain-safe Walking distance from CNN center, Olympic Park and other eateries Cons: A complete madhouse if you go on a “get in free” day Parking likely an extra cost. It doesn’t look they have their own parking Days: Weekend or Holiday Pros: Working outside of home laides and all our husbands could possible attend Avoid rush hour traffic Cons: Places likely to be more busy Weekday Pros: Places likely to be quieter Cons: Only SAHM’s and kids could attend Possibility of rush hour traffic in Atlanta (to be avoided!) After-Even Possibilities CNN Center (with food available) / World of Coca Cola if you’re really ambitious The Varsity (a huge Atlanta landmark and lots of fun, but the food is not particularly special and it will require more driving)

So close and yet so far... I used to live near Atlanta but now I am 4 hours away! Any ladies driving up from Florida can stop and say hi...

As long as hubby is comfortable with me going, this does sound awesome! We did the Aquarium already and it is not really on the top of my list of things to do again anytime soon. I think the Children's Museum sounds like fun and is the cheapest option. I have never actually drove to Atlanta usually hubby does it for me, but I can bring our GPS and hopefully it will help me arrive safely to my destination . There is also a park in Jackson, GA called Dauset Nature Trails. I am not sure the distance it would be for everyone, but I know for me it is about an hour drive. It is totally free with picnic areas for lunch. Basically it is a trail through the woods with animals in cages along the way. They have bears, birds, foxes, otters, jaguars, etc. That would be another option depending on the distance it is for everyone.

Jackson, GA is south of Atlanta, and about 1.5 hours away for me. That's doable. Attempting this on a Saturday would be one way of including the hubbys who wish to come, as well as any working outside of home ladies. I too, have been to the aquarium before, but the Children's Museum would be a new one for our family.

That sounds really fun to meet with everyone. I am with Jessica tho I don't know about hubby attending. I would also have to check with him. I know that he would go for Jackson quicker then Atlanta tho especially if I need to go alone.

One thing for me about Jackson and the nature trails is that as I progress into my 3rd trimester, my ability to hike any distance will probably be somewhat limited. But I'm thinking I can ask either my hubby or my mom to help with Nathan no matter where we go. Besides, if I know I have to go on a hike, that'll be awfully good incentive to work out every day!

If this turn out to be a really big thing with lots of CW ladies there, we might be able to come. I would prefer the children's museum. It would be a 5 hour drive for me, but if this was planned during baseball season on a day the Braves were playing a home game the drive would be worth it. LOL

From what I've heard, the entire museum is a play area. Everything is hands on for little ones. They don't even recommend it for kids over 8. The website will give you more details. As far as time, I wouldn't recommend the next 3 weeks for Atlanta (gas situation), but I was thinking that late October or early November might be good. That avoids holidays and bad weather. I'm thinking of putting up a poll for people, or we can just talk here. Emily, if you are thinking of coming to Atlanta, I can't guarantee this will be a big gathering, but the nearby the Children's Museum (if that's where we finally settle) is a lot of other big Atlanta stuff. Easily enough to make a mini-getaway out of, but baseball is certainly wrapping up it's regular season.

It would definitely have to be end of October/early November for me because the next three weeks or so are booked up. The Children's Museum sounds great to me, I know Hunter would definitely enjoy it.

Don't think I will be able to come. I have 3 that are 8 and over so they would be so bored at the Children's museum. Maybe if we plan something for a later time I can attend then.

If the final choice is Atlanta Children's Museum, then here's one thought. Some ladies are considering driving quite a distance (more then 3 hours), some have older children. If I was driving 4 hours, I'd want to do more then just the Museum. There are lots of other things to see nearby. What about meeting at the museum before lunch, eating lunch (maybe at Centennial Park, I think it's close enough, I'd just want to double check) then seeing something else nearby. Those with little ones could break off whenever they need to. Those with older ones could tour the CNN center. I need to head off now, but when Nathan is napping I'll take a look at the maps and try to come up with a good plan. The other options presented are Stone Mountain and the nature preserve at Jackson, GA.

I would love to meet again in the spring and go to the Children's Museum, zoo, and a Braves game. Chris and I could go for a long weekend. (of course my sister would probably want to come too. She would be so jealous if I went to Atlanta without her. LOL) What is the CNN center?

I would definitely be able to do museum and lunch, but then I would break off to head home to avoid a meltdown. I am getting so excited!

Okay, I have some ideas. Please understand I'm not trying to dictate anything, just suggest some concrete plans based on what seems to be the majority view and see what people think. Children's Museum of Atlanta opens at 10am. Families of littles could meet and enjoy the museum. If we have 10 or more folks over 2 I will call and ask about discount tickets. This must be done in advance. The Museum is right on Centennial Park. We go to the park for lunch and meet up with folks whose kids are to old to enjoy the museum. Folks could bring food or purchase nearby. Plenty of options. The park does not have a playground, but I've always seen kids running around and playing there. It's a beautiful little park, mostly fenced in. After lunch, folks with older kids or folks who feel brave enough to continue on, could easily walk to the CNN Center, the World of Coca Cola or the Aquarium (need tickets for that one in advance). All of these sites border the park, and the park is not terribly large. If folks are driving a ways they may want to make a whole day of it, or they may not care for a Children's Museum. If we (privately) exchange cell phone numbers we can keep track of each other and meet up. If folks think this sounds like a lot of money (remember parking), then Stone Mountain may be a good option, though it leaves us more vulnerable to weather, especially as we get into late October. Bear in mind, most people are still mowing their lawns at Thanksgiving, so I don't expect snow! It sounds like a Saturday may be the best for the majority of folks. I've had one WOHM tell me she's interested, and Saturday's would allow most (not all) hubbys to come along. Also, Saturday should make parking easier, as the business folks would not be there. What do all of you think?

If there's another get-together in the spring, we'd LOVE to come... especially if there's a Braves Game in the mix! I haven't been to one since before Luke was born. Car2ner, where in GA are you? We're in Tallahassee, FL (practically South Georgia, right?) and DH is from the Tifton area. --Kat

I'm in Lake Park. Gotta head to Tallahassee to pick up my mom at the airport around Christmas time.
