ORIGINAL: Carleejoan Hi we lost my husband and my daughter's daddy to cancer in January of this year and this is all the "firsts." I would like to ask for prayer for us this weekend as I'm feeling sad and tired and my daughter is putting on a brave front for an 11 year old. I still cry a couple of times every day but this weekend I could just shut myself in and not answer the phone. I know it's God's will for us to be with people. Please pray for strength for us this weekend as we miss him so terribly. Thanks so much. Carleejoan, I'm going to post a prayer too, and I see you aren't asking for any advice, so please forgive this comment, which is not advice, but which refuses to go away. You've got an idea about your phone and just going for a total iso ( lacrosse term for isolation of opponent). Take that phone idea, pray about it, and if you could use the time away from the day-to-day I say go for it! Maybe let one or two people know your plan that would probably be called to find out where you were. I haven't lost a spouse, but grieving of matters of the heart are hard. Don't be someone you're not. Don't pack in missing someone, and I know it's helped me with the loss of all grandparents to remember the fun and the stories. I bet your daughters got some memories you haven't thought of for some time and you her. Just a thought to share the tears and the laughter. Sometimes what we feel like might very well be the ticket to feeling how we'd rather. Father God, Thank You for loving us, for Your word, Your Spirit, and for prayer. Thank You for comforting us when we ask it. I pray You comfort Carleejoan and her daughter as they work through this first year of missing a spouse and a dad. Help them reflect on the fun times they shared with him and help them to find comfort and strength in You each day. In the precious name of Jesus I pray, Amen

Carleejoan the loss of someone you love is always hard. There is a time to greive. Then comes the beautiful reflection of that persons life. You are an example to your daughter and how you handle things is an example to your daughter. May I suggest you celebrate your husbands life and love this Fathers day. Make this a beautiful day for your daughter to celebrate the love her father gave her. Maybe the two on you could bake a cake in remembrance or go out to dinner. I hope you will do something that will give you both some joy and happiness. Lord I pray for this mother and daughter I pray Lord you will help them to celebrate the wonderful husband and father you blessed them with. Help them and comfort them Lord May this Fathers day be blessed with happiness and joy Thank you Lord In Jesus name May your will be done Amen

I know losing someone is very hard as I have lost several loved ones over the past few years. God will help in easing the pain. I know that it is something you probably have heard before, but it is true. I hope you will keep your eyes on Jesus and keep trusting in him as he will bring you through this.

Carleejoan, I agree with what OneJohn410 and kyl said. Do what feel right. Whatever your and your daughter's hearts tells you. If you feel you want to be around people, do. But if you feel like beinging alone, just the two of you, do that. People will understand, and of course the Lord understands, and will be right there with you, whatever you choose to do. Father, I join my prayer with the above prayers, asking for all comfort and help for Carleejoan and her daughter this father's day. In Jesus name. Amen

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I went to a memorial service today for a dear lady who went to be with Jesus so was able to visit and be with friends too today. It did help a lot. I have to remember to reach out and care about others too and that way it's not all about me. Thanks again.

Father God, only those who have been in a similar position of grief to Carlee can really understand how she feels. But we others know what it is to feel pain and grief Lord in many ways, and our hearts go out to her and her daughter. We ask You to wrap Your arms around them and give them comfort. Somehow remind them of the joy they will have in a time not too far off when they will be with husband and father again. Please strengthen them in this day, Lord. We ask in Jesus Name. Amen.

Carleejoan, I am still praying for you. I can't believe its been since January already. I am sorry you and your daughter are having a hard time. Maybe you being there with your friends at the womans memorial service really was meant to help you, and while you were there, you were also there for your friends in their time of need as well...I have lost family members in the past and I know its hard, I pray that the Lord just continue to give you strength and comfort. Don't worry you will see your husband one day and you will be reunited with him.... AMEN kc
