I had started a thread on this last year but I searched back 35 pages and couldn't find it.

Anyway, I just bought 9 original Blackwood Brothers LP's off of ebay! It was one of those "buy it now" deals that I just couldn't pass up. Twenty dollars for 9 LP's is a steal!

Daniel, this one might interest you. A couple of weeks ago there was a Cathedral Trio album up for auction - Introducing The Cathedral Trio. I bid on it but it went way beyond my price range. It sold for $44 and change. I wanted it but there was no way I could go that much for one LP.

I was able to pick up the Cathedral Quartet Sings Albert E. Brumley Classics the same day the Cathedral Trio album was auctioned.

For that particular album, $44 was towards the cheap end. It's been one of the few Cathedrals projects I haven't been able to get yet.

I know it was cheap for that particular album. I just didn't have that much to spare at that time. If it were to be auctioned this week I could do it.

That deal I got on those Blackwood Brothers LP's was definitely a steal! Four of the nine albums have J.D. Sumner singing bass for them. The oldest one is a self-titled LP from 1959. I haven't had time to listen to all of them yet but I do like what I have heard so far!

Yes it is! Brumley wrote some of the best SG songs of all time!

is some great buys off there. I buy coins, movies, and music off there. although today have been football card crazy. picked up lot of 70's rookie cards for under $.25 each. one was Reggie White from 80's. if any havent heard of him, he retired from NFL and returned to Tennessee to preach. I believe awas after he went to live with the Lord someone burnt his Church to the ground. but if get a chance, read the books out about him. a true Christian and was not ashamed to let people know of his love of the Lord.

I've gotten some great deals on ebay. Most of my SG LP's were purchased there. I like it when you can get 10 or 12 albums by various artists or 4 or 5 by the same artist for a really cheap price.

Unfortunately, my local used record store hasn't gotten any new SG albums in for several months. The owner has told me several times that he has a bunch at his other store (which is 30 miles away) and that he would bring them over for me to look at but he hasn't yet. So that leaves ebay as my only alternative right now.

Do y'all know how easy it would be for me to go broke on ebay? They have so many old SG LP's that I would love to get my hands on.

If only I were independently wealthy!

I won six auctions on e-bay today and will soon be getting 67 SG LP's. Of those, 48 different Blackwood Brothers LP's, one by the Rebels Quartet, one by the Statesmen, one by the Thrasher Brothers, and two by the Sego Brothers and Naomi.

The best news is that I paid less than $2.50 for each LP, shipping included!

I would too! At least I know how to transfer them onto my computer for my own personal use. I think that is still legal. If not, then disregard that comment! On the other hand, it is going to take forever to transfer 67 albums!

You know what the sad part is? I'm getting 47 Blackwood albums plus I got 9 last week. That makes a total of 56, right? The Blackwoods put out more than 150 albums, not including compilations! I will only have about one-third of their discography!

I agree totally with you. I think they are possibly the best ever quartet. am a TQ fan yes but Blackwood's were the power of SG for years. what can you say of a group had 1 song stay number one I think was over a year.

I have 2 different compilations of their songs released on cd. but do have many of the albums at my dad's house.

I tell you what. If I have very many more days like this where I add a ton of records to my collection, I'll have to build another room onto the house!

I think I have in my collection 3 London Paris albums, 7 Blackwood Brothers, 11 Kingsmen, 8 Inspirations, 4 Stamps, 2 Thrasher Brothers, 2 Rebels, 3 Hank Sr, 88 George Jones((all his pre-cd days)), and piles of them of different singers just have 1 lp each.

I was just thinking. About a year or so ago we had a thread on here asking which artists everyone had in their SG collection. And how many CD's/LP's/Cassettes/8-tracks for each artist. Anyway, I haven't updated my list since I posted it and it certainly has grown a bunch since then too.

same here since all I had then was a few cd's and some albums. I can say it isnt all SG but I have everything George Jones has ever released either on lp or cd. 106 total recordings. he is by and far the most represented artist in my collection

Yes, it's legal last I heard. I've digitized my entire music collection (except for a very few that just weren't worth it).

There have been a few lawyers who have challenged it (try naming something that no lawyer has challenged!), but as of the last time I heard, it was still fully legal to make music copies for your own personal use.

That is good to know because having them on my computer is much more convenient than putting on the record. A couple of mouse clicks and I can hear the song I want.

is why I have every cd I own and majority of records on my laptop and 2 different externals as backups. I love to make compilations for my truck when driving.

If my computer ever crashes then I am hurting because I do not yet have them backed up.
