“You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations”…. (Barack Obama)

PORT CARBON, Pa. - Three white teens were charged Friday in what officials said was an epithet-filled fatal beating of an illegal Mexican immigrant in a small northeast Pennsylvania coal town. Brandon J. Piekarsky, 16, and Colin J. Walsh, 17, were charged as adults with homicide and ethnic intimidation in the July 12 attack on Luis Ramirez.

A third teen, Derrick M. Donchak, 18, was charged with aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and other offenses. All are from Shenandoah, where the attack occurred.

Additional charges are expected in the case that has roiled Shenandoah, a small, economically depressed town where police have reported friction between whites and a growing Hispanic population.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (CNN) -- The suspect in a fatal shooting at a Knoxville church Sunday was motivated by frustration over being unable to obtain a job and hatred for the liberal movement, police said Monday.

Authorities recovered a four-page letter in which the suspect, Jim Adkisson, described his feelings and motives, police said.

Adkisson, 58, of Powell, Tennessee, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the shootings at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.

The gunman killed two adults and wounded seven others before being overpowered by congregants, authorities said.

The case is being investigated as a hate crime, police said.

"It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job, his frustration over that, and his stated hatred for the liberal movement," Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen IV told reporters on Monday.

No more need be said.....

I pray for the families of these victims.

Yes, why would we need to say more when these two incidents typify every single person living in every single small town in the midwest - The exception of course being Obama's Chicago, where peace and harmony reign?

And thank heaven for the east and west coast cities where there is never any sort of violence, racial or otherwise.

Your sarcasm only affirms Obama's views that people all over the country (Pennsylvania is considered the east coast btw...) are using violence and prejudice as a solutions to their economic dispair -- even Chicago.

Absolutely - we all know that the little people cling to guns and religion when times are bad, but thank goodness for our liberal saviors that are working to relieve us of both.

It just goes to show, when folks are denied the essentials in life, such as big-screen HDTV's, third or fourth cars, or X-box's, the rage is really just bound to spill over into violence.

I have heard that the ratio of HDTVs to citizens of Chicago is very low - that would explain a lot.

Which of these "essentials of life" do you think were missing in the lives of the teens who beat up an immigrant or the man who shot up a church full of children?

Last time I checked, Obama was not the head of CPD, nor is he in charge of managing city policies on crime prevention.

For help here, see "Daley, Richie"

However, as far as the senseless killing of the man in PA, I don't see a connection between it and any comments Obama has ever made.

Racist thugs have been around since long before he was born.

Tell me, Jack. How many times have you visited Chicago?

Obviously they were denied the opportunity to grow up in a time when Obama was President - thank goodness this won't be true of the next generation, so all acts of ignorant violence should cease dramatically.

See, I would thought the mere presence of Obama there would have had a mollifying effect.

Because you sound like a tourist who thinks the city is still run by mobsters like Al Capone.

Chicago is a political island onto itself.

Such a comparison would be absurd - the homocide rate was much lower in Capone's time.

I have to give you credit, Jack.

You can parrot those newborn McCain campaign buzzwords before the shine's even rubbed off on them.

If you lived here, you'd know different. Try some late summer reading.

Careful, though. It's a scorcher.

Oh, McCain is not nearly so clever as to parody The One - but some are.

What is wrong with ordinary statistics?

The more I think of it, the more I like Obama being nicknamed "The One."

It reminds me of the last scene in "Highlander" with the young, vigorous hero standing triumphant over the body of his much, much, much older final opponent.

Like in NYC, the old-style mob is pale shadow of its former self in Chicago. The last major players were neutered by the Feds 30 years ago.

Actually I think he makes it fairly clear on his website he supports a federal ban on swords, and sitting down and talking with other immortals about their differences.
