I was wondering in anyone here has had the Novasure Ablation. I had it done on the 21st of March and was curious how long it took for everyone to see results. I'm having what seems like my first period since the procedure. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I did not have a Novasure ablation.... I had a balloon ablation in January 2007, though. I have had no periods or bleeding at all since.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
Did you have any bleeding after the procedure was done? Did it get better and lighter every period or did you just not have any at all after the surgery..

Hi. I had the procedure done in January. I had "drainage", as someone else put it, for about 10 days. I have had 3 periods since my procedure. Before the procedure, my periods would be VERY heavy (needing super plus tampons with a pad) and lasting about 7 days and VERY crampy (sometimes missing 2-3 days of work). The last 3 periods have been so different. They last about 3 days, only requiring a panty shield and no cramping at all. I am so glad I had the procedure done. Thanks so much for all the responses.
I guess, since I'm bleeding now I just feel like I'm not going to be one of the lucky that doesn't have a period anymore. I'll be happy with a lighter one though!!

I don't know about novasure, but I am aware that for some other ablations it can take a while for things to settle down. It's not been a month for you yet, so give it some time.

I had Novasure done a couple of years ago. I've went pretty much all this time without a period. In the last couple of months though I've started spotting. Sometimes it's enough for me to have to wear a pantyliner. I've also started feeling more cramping. I really hope it doesn't come back full force..haha..but from what I understood sometimes you have to do a it a second time down the road.

Glad to hear it's been working for you.
My Dr. said they couldn't do it a second time. I was first going to have a Hysterectomy but then decided to try this first. She told me that after this was done and things were still the same then I had no others options left...

The younger you are when you have an ablation, the higher the possibility that you will start to have periods again. I think different surgeons and different methods will give different opinions on whether it's possible to have a second ablation.
If a woman does have periods again, they're often much lighter than they had been before the op.
It will be worth checking (if you ever start to get really heavy periods again) current research to see if there are different treatments on offer ~ your doctor may be a doctor, but that doesn't stop us from doing our own research! And, while frustrating as it may be to have periods again (even heavy ones) it may be worth taking into account your age and considering if it's worth a hysterectomy if you're close to menopause.

Well, I'm 28 and no were near menopause. I hope! LOL I've had period problems my whole life and I've been told my many different dr.'s I would be lucky to make it to 30 without a hysterectomy. I'm just trying to hold off as long as I can.

I was thinking that was the case. I would like to have no periods, but then again I also probably want to have children some day.

I had novasure in May of 2007. It did not stop my periods, however, they are so much better than they were before. Before, I was afraid to leave the house during my period and this went on for days at a time. Now, it is much more near normal. 3-5 days and light bleeding. I am glad I had this done as opposed to afull-blown hysterectomy.

If your going to have children...the ablation should not be an option. I am done with my baby making and had already had a tubal. My next step was to have the hysterectomy and I really do not want to do that if at all possible.

I had the Novasure done almost 2 weeks ago. I had light spotting for about 10 days. That's not the problem. I am so emotional and feeling really depressed since I had that done. Is that normal?

Any operation can leave you feeling emotional and depressed, so yes. Added to this is the fact that the op is similar to a hysterectomy in that a woman has to consider herself unable to have children any longer. Regardless of whether she actually wanted (more) children or not, many women do have some problems dealing with the finality of it.

I had an ablation in November and I am so happy that I had it done. I had one light period in December but nothing since then. I have 4 children already and I am 49 years old so I am not having any more children. I was having such dangerously heavy bleeding that my doctor suggested the ablation. I have had no second thoughts or remorse about it.
