My girlfrind and I were saved about 6 months ago and had some issues with intimacy. We decided that I would not stay overnight or be intimate. Now I can hardly get her to sit on the couch with me.She says she is taking away the temptation but it is to the point where she is even afraid to touch me.What can I do?

Well, I am sure you have talked to her about it. Maybe she is to that point where any touching might cause a want for more...you know? I would say respect her boundaries for now and see if you can talk to her about how you feel about it...

I'm sure that the same might one day be said of me. I have been burned by getting too close physically in a "innocent" way that led to something else, so am extremely careful about any type of contact--even holding hands in public.

Do you think that your relationship with gf will lead to marriage? If you both feel that marriage (to one another) is in your future, then perhaps you could start going through marriage preparation books or counseling as you get to know each other better.

quote:

would say respect her boundaries

Agree with this, though not necessarily what followed

If she needs these boundaries, then you need to decide if the physical relationship is more important than her needs. If you truly love her, you will put her needs first, even if they conflict with your wants.
"Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." Eph 5:25 Yes, I know you are not married yet, but if you are not willing to give yourself up for her when you are dating, you probably won't be after you are married. Remember...Christ gave himself up for us BEFORE we were the church...

If you had intimacy issues in your relationshipbefore , it's more difficult to change suddenly. You need to respect her wishes and what she feels is best for your relationship now. It's always more tempting when you are alone together than when you are out in public. What is her behavior when you are out together?

Be proud that she is serious about her convictions and about you.
