I am not a proponent of amnesty for illegal aliens.

I fully support the permanent termination of birthright citizenship.

I support border patrols and the reinforcement and protection of US land and naval ports of entry and borders.

Having said all this, I think that some employees within the system are majorly inept, to put it lightly.

Does anyone really think an upper-middle-class Italian man would have sought asylum? What were these customs officials thinking? Do they speak Italian? I mean, some of the people I've encountered in airports when leaving and entering the United States didn't impress me with their English! (I could go on here about the different experiences I had, but that'd necessitate a specification of race and gender AND how well I was treated or how educated the person seemed - and I won't do this).

The guard saw the man on the floor - and went on a lunch break? Is this kind of apathy and unprofessionalism rampant in such jobs, or are people just really this lazy or unintelligent?

I thought that customer service from my former cable provider or cell phone company was bad... this is absolutely horrifying.

"The detainees have less access to lawyers than convicted murderers in maximum-security prisons and some have fewer comforts than al-Qaeda terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba."

Wow.
