With so many artists now advertised as "exclusively on iTunes". Do you feel that Steve Jobs' company is trying to be the only source for online music?

I haven't been familar with any artist doing that at all, but then again it isn't like I hear music advertising that much either.

Of course he is. That's what being in business is all about, becoming #1 and staying there. Otherwise why bother?

No. Target and Wal-Mart have signed contracts with artists for certain albums. Also if you want pirated music, you can still find a way to get it. Itunes just happens to be well known, so if you put your music on there, its guaranteed you will get some exposure.

All that is true but it doesn't mean that Itunes is not trying to monopolize online music.

You're right, I bought the "Best Buy" exclusive version of Alter Bridge's "Blackbird" CD that had exclusive bonus songs on it. I know that other on-line music sites won't allow you to download music to an iPod my son has to go to iTunes and pay for each song. With a Napster to go subscription I can download unlimited songs into my wife's MP3 player and only have to "synchronize" her playlist once a month. But then again some musicians/groups have exclusivity deals with iTunes and are not accessible without going to a pirate site which I won't do.

Thats not true, you can import any mp3s into itunes and they will play on an ipod. You are not stuck with just itunes for music sources. Amazon.com has unrestricted (but legal) mp3s and most of their songs are .89 cents. I have a nano and I have downloaded the last song from amazon.com for .89 cents.
