How come US cities do not use double decker buses?

I don't know, but why do some cities use them? I assume to seat more people maybe? Would triple-decker buses every be a possibility, or would they be too dangerous? Maybe US people think double-deckers are too dangerous - more likely to tip over or something? (just speculating)

They have double-decker tour buses in New York..and probably other cities, too.
