These past few weeks it seems like one thing after another has happened. I feel like Satan's been on the attack to shatter my faith, of course without success. I was thinking about how I could explain what's been going on with me to my ladies group and came up the following analogy:

I don't know why this came to mind, but envision one of those children's peg boards where they hammer in the pegs. I sometimes feel like I'm one of those pegs.

The top side of the peg board represents God and the bottom side represents Satan. I see a child inserting a peg into one of those holes. It stands straight and upright at first. Then the child begins to hammer the peg and the peg sinks lower and lower. This represents Satan heaping one thing after another on us. Finally, the peg is only one stroke away from being knocked through to the other side. I see Satan gloating to God, "I've got him/her now, soon they will be mine." God ask, "Satan are you sure about that?" You better look again. The child raises the hammer high, ready to give the peg one final blow. Then just as he starts to lower his arm, he decides to flip the peg board over making the sunken peg upright once again. It made me think God never gives us more than we can handle, without being there to lift us up again.

How many others can relate to this?

Yes I can agree also, and yes a very good analogy :) There have been times, I think I cant take anymore, but we serve a God who is always, "RIGHT ON TIME!"
Thank you Jesus!

I'm enjoying your analogy but the fact that you have the child sinking the peg from the top would appear to be from God's side; yet you say this is Satan's work. . . so the child is contributing to satan's work. Are you saying this child is a child of the devil?

Why is the child's action in concert with satan?

I know that is true at times in my life. My husband will see me believing satan's lies and remind me that I am beating myself up with these lies. But I'm not sure many children do this. . .

Please don't take my comments as criticism but as entering into your analogy, wanting to understand and perhaps even help us rework it so that it expresses what we all know to be true. LL

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Liveloved,

You're reading too much into what I am saying. I guess you could say the child represents the world.
