What are your favorite mini series? I enjoyed North and South,Roots. I'm sure there were more,I just can't think of them now.

I'm not sure if the Sarah, Plain and Tall would be considered a mini-series or not? Either way, I think Roots would be my favorite.

Centennial, the longest miniseries ever on American television at 25 1/2 hours. It was on in 1978-1979. It was finally released on DVD at the end of July. I'm watching it for the 3rd time since I bought it. Roots would be my second favorite.

Centennial and Roots are both good. Band of Brothers is also good. Shogun is my personal favorite.

Well I attempted to address this in another thread, but it got nowhere. "Lonesome Dove" is my all time favorite television program of any kind. "Band of Brothers" would be second for minis. When I was a kid, I remember watching "Rich Man, Poor Man" (Nick Nolte's first big role) and "Roots", which started the whole genre.

As the original poster said, North and South and Roots. Those are true classics.

I bought my husband John Adams for his birthday. That's the only miniseries I can think of that either of us have seen in years - and it was certainly very good. How about...do you think the PBS/Masterpiece/Complete Jane Austen thing last fall qualifies as a miniseries?
