My mother has pecan trees and gave us some which I shelled and froze. So for many moons I made pecan pie to take for these church doings. I made fruit pizza on cookie dough a few times. What do make or like?

I finally have a signature dessert I make that is so simply and so yummy. Cake Mix Cobbler 2 - 21 oz. cans fruit pie filling; I have used apple and peach 1 box yellow cake mix 1 - 1 1/2 sticks butter; melted Pour fruit pie filling into the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish. Sprinkle dry cake mix over top of the filling and then pour melted butter over top. I rotate the pan a bit to try and get the melted butter to cover as much as possible. Bake @ 350 for 1 hour and serve with vanilla ice cream or whip cream.

Growing up we always called them "dinner on the grounds". We don't do them nearly enough as we did when I was growing up, I loved it.

That vanilla pudding stuff with the ground up Oreo cookies is so yummy. A lady in our church always brings that. I usually do something simple that my family hopefully does not like too much so it stands a chance at getting to the pot luck. Our church did a weekly pot luck on Wednesdays but for some reason quit. We were getting to the point that a lot of people were coming on Wednesday nights but now it is just a handful again.

For warm summer potlucks, I make a no-bake cheery cheesecake. I buy a pre-made angel food or pound cake, slice it and firmly press it into the bottom of 13x9 dish. Then blend an 8 ounce package of cream cheese with 1/2 cup of sugar and an 8 ounce container of cool whip(don't use real whipped cream). Spread it completely over the "crust" and chill for 30 minutes. Then top with cheery pie filling. Refrigerate until time to take it someplace...it does well sitting out for a few hours too. It's sooooooo yummy! I used lemon pie filling last time and it was very good too, and very refreshing.

Karlie, I make that cheesecake but add sugar and use a vanilla wafer and butter crust. Your pound cake idea sound good and I think I'll take it to the 4th of july picnic, Thanks for the inspiration!!!! One time I made it and instead of pie fuilling I made my mom's strawberry pie filling recipe and left it in a bowl and let people spoon it over their cheesecake. They loved it. I also thougth some hot fudge sauce would be good drizzled over it with crushed butterfinger candy bars on top? I love butterfingers in anything. I make deviled eggs for church dinner. I mix the filling up in my food processor and always throw in a couple of whole eggs with the yellows so I'll have enough filling. Its so easy that way. I always use eggs that are old not fresh, so they will peel.

I like that thing that you make with pudding. I can't remember, but you make a crust with flour, butter, powder sugar and nuts, then a layer of cream cheese and powder sugar, then the pudding, and whipped cream on top. Any flavor of pudding works.
