On the 09/10 edition of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" Ferguson skirted the line between comedy and commentary when discussing this election and the importance of voting. His observations on the election and his fervor about the necessity to vote have been making the rounds on the internet. Ferguson is a newly naturalized American and this is his first election as a citizen.

The video of this monologue is youtube linked below (CBS posted the link themselves so no copyright worries). There may be one or two slightly objectionable words (the really bad words would have gotten bleeped, no bleeps, one is the word for "butt" and perhaps the word for illegitimate child). While I found the rant mostly non-partisan there are some barbs directed at both parties. It clocks in at a shade under nine minutes.

So watch, enjoy (hopefully) and if so inclined comment:

Craig Ferguson's got a lot more going on upstairs than his goofy humor suggests, and I believe he actually "gets" what America is, or should be, about. He's right and I wish he had a platform to lose some of the goofiness and talk a bit more and a bit longer about this sort of thing.

He spoke this year at the Independence Day ceremonies at Fanuel Hall in Boston. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n74PDCgk8nY

Oh, and I'm in the video @ 6:54 & 8:35.
