Do you compare yourself to other women? Do you find yourself "competing" with them, at least in your mind?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately since attending a family wedding. All of the women who married into my DH's family are at least ten years younger than me, very petite, and thin, thin, thin. Despite losing all of my pregnancy weight from two children and despite the fact that I'm okay with my age... I still compare myself, rather unfairly at times, to them. And not just them. Also, with other young moms, to the point that it becomes almost competitive. Who nursed longer, who potty trained faster, whose little tot is the most brilliant, etc, etc. Why do we do this?!

Do you do this? How do you keep from constantly comparing yourself to other women?

I find that I do sometimes compare myself to others especially when I feel ugly or untalented or something that brings about unsecurities

try my best not to let things like this get to me but sometimes human nature just brings them about But God always helps me see the way I should!

usually after being down about myself, I start to get the right prespective about everything. Praying helps ^_^

I know I shouldn't, but I find myself doing it too. I guess it is something that I need to CONTINUOUSLY ask the HS to help me with. Satan loves to use this area.

My SIL (whom I love dearly) is a good example. Just one of those people that seems to have a charmed life ("seems" being the operative word). Granted, she's 10 years younger than me, not a wrinkled on her sweet face, perfect skin, tall, thin, thick hair, etc. If I didn't know better, I would be insanely jealous. But...she has been challenged with Crone's syndrome. So, when we think somebody has it better, we have to realize life is not perfect for anyone. ...even if it "seems" that way.

I tend to compare myself to other women sometmes too. My boyfriend says I'm gorgeous, and really only his and God's opinions matter. But I still find myself getting kinda jealous of the girls who can fit into smaller jeans, or have the perfect hair and flawless complexion.

I compare myself to other women. I think it is healthy to compare. If not for observing other women one would know little about fashion and make-up - what to wear and what not to wear.

Interesting observation though I don't agree.
