I've had a callus on my finger for quite sometime now,will it ever go away? I'm not even sure why I got one there in the first place. Is there any thing to put on it to make it go away?

I got a callus on my finger from writing so much in elementary school. Even though the callus is long gone, there is a permanent bump where it used to be and my fingernail grows a little bit flat.

A callous is the body's way of protecting a frequently rubbed area. If you stop doing what caused the callous, it will go away. Do not attempt to remove one where the rubbing will continue.
I have typical "runner's feet". Meaning callouses on the side of my big toes and at the end of my second toes. Dah... at least I don't get blisters there anymore!

You can buy cream that you simply rub on and it will remove the callous.
You will probably find it in the foot creams.
We used to use it it the beauty shop when doing pedicures.
Sorry I cant remember a name but it should be easy to find in any store.

Me Too-My nails are fine-but I still have the bump.
I also have calluses on my palms from weight lifting-right below where the finger meets the hand, on both hands.
I suppose I could get weight lifting gloves....but they don't bother me-and I like that the old fashioned metal bars and dumbells don't bother my hands.
When I played guitar regularly-I used to have permanent calluses on my fingertips from the steel strings.
