Do boring people exist or is it our fault if we don't find them interesting?

Did God create them boring so that we may appreciate the more interesting people in life?

Or did He create them to teach us a lesson? (Which lesson?)

Is anyone truely boring if you get to know them? Nope, each individual can be very interesting if you take the time to get to know them. Find out about they're life, and what motivates them.
I'll grand you, there are some more interesting than others. But it's our flesh that makes us a "respecter of persons".

I don't know. I would say that there are people who are generally considered by most to be boring. Not everyone is good at telling a story or a joke. Not everyone revels in the things that a majority of us consider to be "exciting." These people tend to be viewed as boring, even once you get to know them. And that doesn't mean that you don't like them. I have an uncle who I consider to be a pretty boring guy, but he's still a good guy and I like fishing with him.

People like my uncle just fit into God's plan in a different manner. They do (and often enjoy doing) the stuff that many of us consider mundane. But someone's gotta do it, and God has chosen them. It doesn't make them any less important, that they're not good people, or that they aren't worth being friends with. Like the old saying goes, it takes all kinds of people to make the world work.

I have a friend who always says the same things over an over. And that's pretty boring.

Mmmmm I thought this was going to be a "Light Hearted Thread" but now I find it's a thread about bored people.

Since I'm the most boring person in the world, I signed up.

Boring people are those who talk about themselves and not about us. Really.

The Bible says charm is deceitful: some people can talk about us or even better, let us talk about us, and we think that person is a wonderful conversationalist. Our sin natures make us want to be the center of the universe.

Some people genuinely care about us, and they are never boring. As we grow in our walk with God, we learn that God loves sinful (boring) people and we are to do so also. We learn to become givers instead of just takers, and life becomes wonderful for all concerned.

I love the poem "The Pebble and the Clod" by William Blake (a PK, but not a believer as I understand it. But I think he got it right in this instance):

Love seeketh not itself to please
nor for itself hath any care
But to another gives its ease
and builds a heaven in hell's despair.

(quoted from memory - I hope I got it right. I memorized this in high school over 40 years ago, and it's one of the most useful things I learned there).

Am I boring? You bet. But I'm learning how to love, and that will erode the boringness. In heaven it will be made complete, and maybe that's one of the reasons our joy will be made full.

I have never met an uninteresting person. I have met many uninterested people though.

Peace

Thanx for your replies.

You've all been rather polite and somewhat charitable. Christ-like I suppose.

But surely you know the type of individual I'm speaking of? The one with the droning monotonous voice who, as soon as he starts speaking, your eyelids struggle to stay open. The type of person who would be an instant cure to insomnia.

Or the person who repeats a certain phrase over and again every few words, you know what I mean, he starts talking about something and then repeats it, you know what I mean ... what I mean ... what I ...

Or the guy who tells a story with every minutest details. It was a Saturday afternoon I remember ... it was rather cold ... you know, that kind of crisp cold dry wind that cuts right through you ... you get it often in October .... And whilst he's talking your heart is screaming "GET ON WITH IT !!!!"

Surely you must have met these people? Or are they all in Britain?

Why oh why does God send them all my way? Is He teaching me humility, patience, kindness ... or is He just laughing at me?

On the surface yes we know these people. (I think I'm one of them myself to a degree.) Dig deeper, mvic.

I like to think this is the truth, although I certainly know that for the most part, I'm probably one of them, haha. So, there's at least one in Orlando!

Nope ... we have them here too! LOL

I like to ask them outrageous questions (appropriate of course) and they will either become interesting or they will think I'm really weird.

Ah! There are people who already think that

Actually everyone else is weird. I, on the other hand, am completely normal.

Good. I'm glad to see someone agrees with me. I will be holding classes on "Normality" on this site at about 8:00PM Central time so I can help others of you become as normal as I am.

Registration costs only a mere $20, and can be made payable in the form of checks to the "TorchHeart Education Society and School of Hard Knocks!"

CLASS #1 will be about how to avoid getting fleeced out of your hard earned money. Please pay in advance so you can come to class prepared.
