How many of you guys shave your body hair and why? It's not really in my generation (am 51), but a lot of guys do it, and some are almost as old as I am. I've always known that my Japanese wife dislikes body hair (as she commented on the absence of it in the Olympics), but she's never said anything to me about it, rejected me sexually, or anything like that. It's just that male body hair is not (or maybe just barely) a part of the Japanese male body... very different than many of us Caucasians. I've just heard her casually comment about it over the years, but nothing critical to me. I have very moderate body hair but not too much (light skin with blonde hair). Sometimes I wonder if I should try shaving. It just seems so much trouble. Who in this forum does it, why, and how often?

I admit it. I shave my body hair.
Not completely off necessarily, but I definitely keep myself trimmed and not overly hairy. Since my hair grows at a fast and ridiculous pace, as if I were related to Chewbacca, I shave frequently so that it doesn't begin to build up.
I personally think I look best when I'm trimmed and appear clean shaven as opposed to being a lumberjack who looks like a wildebeest.

I admit it, too. About 15-18 years ago, I shaved my body hair because I was trying to be a bodybuilder. It got to be just too much of a hassle and I got bumps once in a while so I am back to "normal." I tried waxing once--which was enough since I am not into masochism. How often would depend on the individual, just like shaving the face.
I am now 61 and only have a bit of thin, black to gray hair on my slightly darker than fair-skinned body--and those thin hairs are not thick on my body. The only thing my wife ever said was that I needed to clean out the trap in the drain. She is Taiwanese (Chinese). None of the men in her family had any body hair to speak of.
Just a note about body hair and cultures: The Chinese are usually not hairy either, similar to the Japanese. I was sitting on a bus one afternoon and had shorts on. I felt something "stinging" my leg so I swiped at it a couple of times. Finally, I looked down and young Chinese boy was gazing intently at my "hairy" legs and pulling at the hairs that were there (no, my legs are not particularly hairy either).

I don't shave any of my body hair, don't see the need to, and I'm 67 years old. But to each his own I suppose..Simway

I shave my my chest down completely. Sorry, dirty-blonde hair is yuck! I trim everything else down so as to keep myself looking like I care for myself. I'm also thankful I don't have to worry about a hairy back, that's happily something I didn't get int he gene pool

I've got hair like a monkey all over so I have my hairdresser or my masseur (which depends on where the hair is!) take care of it. Chest, stomach, back, and shoulders: shaved bald. Pits and, well, you know: "manscaped" down to about a half inch.

The ear hair (and nose hair) can be really scary. I was getting my hair cut not too long ago, and at the next chair is a good looking kid about 16 or 17 getting a cut too (I'm 36). My cutter says to me "You want me to clean up your neck?" and I say, "Yeah, and hit my earlobes and eyebrows while you're at it." Kid in the next chair spins around and looks at us with a priceless look of absolute horror on his face. I said to him "See what you have to look forward to?"
