Bill O'Reilly led off tonight's episode of The Factor with a pointed critique of the latest small-minded content of the news cycle, criticizing the McCain campaign both in terms of character and tactics, slagging the media for pressing the story senselessly.

O'Reilly very clearly stipulated that there was no evidence that Obama intended to make any sort of sexist remark.

Amazing coming from O'Reilly.

from o'reilly it is amazing that he would defend obama, but there are times when his opinions are thought out and do not merely express his own agenda

Yes, for someone who clearly leans to the right I have always had respect for Bill O'Reilly and this just reinforces that. Although I think he ocassionally misses the mark, Bill seems to be a man who actually cares about being "fair and balanced".

Wow! I never thought Bill O'Reilly would do any of that. He has never been fair to people who don't agree with him before, so for him to do this really makes me think better of him. I completely agree with him on this. Obama tends to overuse that cliche to begin with, but I think he is smart enough to not openly smear Palin. I also think the McCain camp is trying to distract us all from the issues and I do think we need to go back to the issues and it will backfire on McCain. Bravo to O'Reilly.

I've always liked Bill O'Reilly. I'm glad he's sticking up for Obama and not blindly going where ever the Republicans go like other Fox News presenters. He's probably one of the most "fair and balance" presenters on Fox News. Perhaps even across the board, across all major networks.

Amazing coming from O'Reilly.

Could Oreally be growing a conscience? Brings tears to my eyes . Actually, he has, at times been critical of His Excellency. It may make a difference that Obummer came on his show. May have scored some points.

O'Reily and Olberman, and Chris Mathews, and John Stewart, and the rest are all jesters. Who gives them any credence?

But why did Tim Russert have to leave us?

I wouldn't put Stewart in that group because he makes no pretense about his comedic intent.

I'm a bit sick of the lipstick controversy to be honest. there are much bigger fish to fry in this election. I'm also disappointed that McCain's campaign demanded an apology for it. I'd much rather see the McCain campain demand an apology from the appropriate people for something like the infanticide going on in the world.

"Amazing" ain't a term nearly strong enough. "Redemptive" is one I would suggest - a sign that even a guy who makes his living by being as viscious as he can get away with, can clean up his act.
