I kind of know what you mean. I had a problem with this at one time. I'll have to make this post short, cuz I gotta get back to work... God deserves our praise and adoration because He first created us. If you were to sculpt an image of something and it came alive, shouldn't it be thankful that you created it? Also, ultimately, He gave His life for us. We should love Him because He first loved us--- so much that he would take the punishment we deserved. Of course, there are many other reasons... But just remember that God is Who He is because that's what He chooses to be. He can place limits on Himself, but no one else can limit Him. We can't begin to understand Him--- we should never try to confine Him to our human intellects.

I used to feel like being disobedient to God a while back, when I was a teen, but then again that's the way teens are..so now that I am an adult I see and understand His need for my obedience and submission to Him. all I have to do is read the Bible and I wanna please God with all my heart! it's scary when you think you're about to lose faith, I know! I'll be praying for you my friend!

Read Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, etc. The prophets tell us a lot about who God is and why he deserves our worship.

Steph said it all. when I get that thought I just have to remind myself that he is: *My creator, whom without I would not even exist in the first place. *My savior, who died because he couldn't stand the thought of his children burning in a torturous pit of fire Also, worshiping him is the major reason we were created at all.

^^^ i disagree a bit the your last comment rock. i believe that God wants our fellowship, and not so much our worship. i mean he is the Lord and deserves our worship, but the angels worship him, as well as whatever else he would want to create that would worship him. we on the other hand, CHOOSE to love him, (revelation 3:20-21..... doesnt sound like he wants us to worship, but fellowship) God loves us so much that hes like, you know what, if you dont want to spend eternity with me, you dont have to! but theres only one other place you can be.... lol

ORIGINAL: GradySizemorefan24 Well here's the thing when I was 9 years old I got saved, but really haven't went any further than that. My problem right now is this, why is God who He is? Why does God deserve our obedience and our worship and praise? I don't want this to sound bad but the thought of Who is He? keeps popping into my head. Another thing is this I continually think that I don't do anything wrong, I have known at points in my life that I have done wrong but lately I keep thinking I don't. But I don't want to feel this way. I also have a lot of doubts about my salvation. I just wondered if anyone could give me any advice on what I should or shouldn't be doing. I'm scared really. Thanks! That's an awesome question and I think its great that your even asking. The only way to get to know someone or something is to spend time with them. You could hear people tell you all day long who God is but it will not really change what you feel. I can tell you everyday something new about the President and maybe you will learn more "about" him-but you wont know him as well as if you were to spend actual time with him. The same for "knowing" God verses "knowing about" God. You need to read the bible. Read it daily, use a journal and write down what you think God is speaking to you about or what you learned while you read. Write down the character of God. Its just like getting to know a friend. Pray with honesty. Tell God what you feel. You can tell Him the truth. "Lord, I'm not sure why I should obey you-help me understand.Or I'm not sure if you are even real!" He will speak to you if you are seeking the truth. But, you need to take an action step. Read the bible. Ask us questions about what you read. I'm willing to help you out. if you have questions I dont mind to take the time.
